Is it hard enough to write on or will pencil break through paper?

Yes, it is strong enough . I even tried writing on tissue paper with a sharpened pencil and it did not tear with normal pressure.

no, Mine does not have any logo on the front. their is a small logo in the corner

How do you get it to flatten specially on the sides?

You can roll the mat in the opposite direction, then unroll it, put some heavy books on it, it will lay perfectly flat after a few hours later.

Will a Apple Magic Mouse work on this pad?

I don't see why not, test it on a black piece of paper first. Works fine on my logitech optical wireless
