On first glance. Outstanding piece. Super sharp. Already oiled up. Craftsmanship outstanding. Hope it performs the way I expect it too.

So far I am very impressed with the quality and ease of use of these shears. I have never been disappointed in the quality of products made in Japan and seeing that these shears were made in Japan I decided to take a chance. These shears are not cheap, however in my first use of them they performed flawlessly. These shears blades are very sharp, very well machined and fit and finish of the blade mechanism is truly excellent with a beefy pivot bolt, nothing is cheaply built. I was able to cut through 9/16th inch, just over half and inch or about 14.25 mm diameter bush stems very easily. And for a trimming like that it was just about as comfortable and easy to use these manual shears as my electric Milwaukee ones. See the picture I am going to upload as well to see what you can cut with one hand. The overall ergonomics are very good, full steel handles with a nicely engaging locking mechanism. There are no comfort grips but I wear gloves while gardening and the rounded face of the handles caused no hot spots or discomfort. If you wanted you could likely use plastidip to add a rubber handle but it’s really not needed, and you know you have steel handles all the way down, nothing hidden by plastic. The leather sheathe seems to be of good quality. It is only formed for right hand carry but I am a lefty and you can easily just put the shears in “backwards” and the sheathe being leather has no issues retaining the shears and they don’t get stuck. I would advise these shears will probably rust a little easier than cheaper shears as they are probably a higher carbon steel, but I have no doubt that when dull you could bring these to a sharpening service for knives and they could easily get them sharp again, they are properly made.
