Shelled sunflower seeds fall right out. Does anyone know of a feeder that will hold sunflower chips but deter doves?

feeder is designed for sunflower seeds (unshelled) -it took our birds about three months to figure it out but now it is their feeder of choice-as for chips we have never used them as one they are expensive and second the birds enjoy de-shelling the sunflower seeds

Which types of bird feed are people using? My birds seem to have trouble getting out the types talked about here so far.

I’m using sunflower seeds. It doesn’t go real fast but they can get it out. I’ve had multiple birds and a few squirrels eating out of the middle.

What seed works best with this feeder?

We use a mix of shelled peanuts, sunflower seeds, and dried fruit. Any one of those alone or in a mix would be good. The screen holes are approx. 1/4 inch by 1/4 inch squares so smaller seeds like safflower or millet (if you use it) are not a good choice since they fall out easily. We don't feed corn so not sure if it would be good size wise.

Is the cover supposed to fit securely on the top of the feeder? Mine is loose, even with the thing down that is supposed to hold it in place.
