Premium Versatile Luthier Tool for Quick and Easy Guitar Set Up and Maintenance

So far, this thing has come in very handy indeed. There isn't much to say here really, I gave it 5 stars because it was so cheap and gets the job done period. If there's anything to complain about is the fact that this thing is stamped out of metal, and the edges can be quite sharp. This makes measuring expensive guitars with nice finishes very nerve racking. You could easily scratch the finish of your guitars if you aren't careful. Would be really cool if they could fix this. Overall though, hard to complain with such a simple and cheap product.

Can't believe I went 22 years of playing and working on my own guitars and never had one of these. Takes all the guess work out and makes guitar setup a breeze. Makes that Squier play like a dream and makes Fenders play like a part of you.

Now that I started playing again I now have a few bucks to try different guitars. I didn't have much choice when I was young and poor I played what I had and there was no YouTube to make you an expert in 30 minutes or less.I take this with me to the guitar stores (it fits in the size of a business card in my wallet,) and can actually measure action height and, very much important but almost never discussed, string spacing, makes a huge impact on playability, for me anyway.Now I can connect what feels good or bad to actual data. Saves time and $$$ not being suckered by that sparkly finish with crap action & narrow string spacing. I have also used it as a fret rocker in a pinch, but not sure how really straight it is along the edge.That said, maybe round the corners a bit, and the markings are screen printing which are already flaking from going in and out of my tight wallet (pun intended.) not bad flaking and still 100% usable.If you have some axes that feel good and others not so much and don't know why, you need this to measure. You also want to consider neck profile and radius which this obviously doesn't do, but you can get that from the specs.Now I can tell you I like string spacing (NOT always related to nut width,) about 36mm + and the action at or a tad lower than what is printed / recommended right on this device. You can also tell your tech at what measurement that fret starts to buzz etc.Probably the longest review I've written and for one of the cheapest spends. Play? Why don't you have one?Keep rocking... or countrying... or jazzing...

This credit card size tool is an absolute necessity for anyone wanting to set up their guitar. The scales are clear and accurate enough for eyeballing string height and other measurements. It's non-magnetic and although not marked as such, appears to be made of stainless steel. The markings are printed, not engraved. But I don't see that as a problem. You can certainly pay a lot more for an engraved stainless steel ruler if that's what you want. Common sense precautions like storing it in the small plastic envelope it arrived in should preserve the markings for a very long time.

The Measurements are just inked on. be careful not to rub them off. It is the perfect size for your wallet only it is very very thin. It would definitely get bent. it also has very shape edges and corners. be careful not to scratch your freshly polished frets after a polish or fret level. Do not let it near anything with paint or scratches will surely occur. Outside of the very sharp edges and having to be extremely careful not to bend it, I find it very useful. I needed a string action gauge and was shopping on a dime. It does what it is supposed to but,when I had to re-polish my frets and set up my guitar again I got frustrated. I knew to be gentle but, It slipped across two frets and back to polishing. lol.

It isn’t rocket science when adjusting the action on your guitar. Read up on adjusting it for your particular guitar and get familiar with measurements. Research truss rod adjustments but do so at your own risk. You want to make sure your neck is straight if you’re going for a low action. In my case I just wanted to set my Gibson Les Paul to the right action and this made it easy. Keep in mind that the action recommended on the card is a good starting point. You may need to go higher or lower depending on your needs. Start there. If you have fret buzzing, it can be one of many things from the action being too low, truss rod needs adjustment, or frets are uneven. Even a 100 dollar guitar can be made to play well. Just take your time and learn and make changes slowly.P.S. This tool also works for measuring pickup height. 👍🏽

Essential for setting up your guitar or bass. My pickup heights are now adjusted to Fenders recommended settings and it made my basses sound so much better! It's unfortunate that the rulers are printed on and can wear off, but for $10 it's great, just take care of it and don't toss it around and it should last.

I have 3 of these things, StewMac, Baroque and this AZMusic one. Get this one if you have PRS SE guitars as of the 3, I found this one the most useful for PRS setup guide measurements which are imperial.
