Tried it, despite all the bad reviews. The reviews were right - this thing is junk.
I'm pretty good at adapting and modifying equipment that has a few faults, so I figured I'd give this a shot and then re-configure it to work out the kinks. I also thought I'd be clever and buy the extended warranty so that it would serve me for at least 5 years. Instead, I ended up returning it after less than a month because it's just a terrible design overall. This icemaker makes the exact same bullet cubes that most other ice makers make. It's first design flaw is that the ice sometimes falls back under the tray and jams the mechanism that lifts the ice up and into the hopper. The hopper is the main difference between this icemaker and other less expensive options. Unfortunately, the hopper is prone to MANY different failures. 1. If a single piece of ice gets caught on the lip between the hopper and the icemaker, the machine believes that the hopper is full and stops making ice. This frequently happened on my machine, in fact it never made more than 2 or 3 batches before it decided it was "full". 2. Because the ice is dropped into a pool of water before being scooped into the hopper, it tends to stick together in the hopper. This means that you can rarely dispense anything from this unit without first opening up the top and breaking up the clump of ice that forms in the hopper. 3. The hopper dispenses ice by lowering a small plastic gate, then turning a rotor that pushes the ice out through the hole the gate was covering. This is just a terrible idea, because the ice frequently jams the gate and keeps it open, and also because the gate is too small for more than a single bullet of ice to pass through. You'll have a "full" hopper of ice, but nothing will dispense because two bullets are stuck together jamming the gate open. You'll have to open the top and break up the ice, being careful not to damage the cheesy little plastic gate. 4. The dispenser on the left has a crusher that chops the ice into a fine sno-cone like texture. Admittedly, that crushed ice is awesome when everything works the way its supposed to. The crusher works really well at first, but if you don't let the unit thaw occasionally the blades will jam from the slush mixture that sticks to them. This machine will shut off in error state for a number of reasons, and sometimes for no apparent reason at all. I returned it because after the first few days there was rarely ever ice when I got home. The machine shut off in error hours before I got home and the ice in the hopper all melted. I'd have to reset the machine and start a new cycle. I might have kept this unit if it had one or two problems and didn't cost so much money. But it's a fairly expensive icemaker that's very poorly designed. I saw no point in trying to fix something that was destined to fail before it was even manufactured. I bought this icemaker as a birthday gift for my wife who loves crushed ice. She loved everything about it for the first 2 days, but a week or so later she was fed up with it and told me to return it. Thanks a lot, Frigidaire.

Great product
Great product easy to use. I hooked up to a waterline. Water level is great ice output as fast. Easy to clean looks great a talking feature of my basement bar Only bad part is a ice capacity, the ice doesnโt always fall so it thinks itโs full when itโs only half full

Please, stay away from this ice maker! Please, read review before buying!
Final update 9/20/22: Well, the machine is now unusable. The "error" icon keeps flashing and nothing seems to help. The ice drawer will move back and forth a few times and then shutter, and error icon comes on. That's the low quality $500 ice maker. So warranty talk. So after a week of slow back and forth emails with support they have instructed us to ship this large, 19lb, heavy, item to them! On our own dime. Keep in mind I live on the east coast, the shipping address is in California! All for them to maybe or maybe not honor their "limited warranty". Well no thank you. I'm done. I'm not going through that WHOLE hassle to either get declined or actually received a third unit (that's right, this would be my THIRD replacement) all to have that "new" unit die a few months later and be out of warranty. Save yourself a headache, STAY AWAY from this ice maker. It was a great idea/concept, terrible execution. Edit/Update: Four months later the machine is now dripping water out of the crunched ice dispenser. While ice does melt and there's nothing the manufacturer can do about that, they could have planned better for the melting ice. Currently it just drips into drip/cup tray. While this does somewhat control the water it does fill up quickly. And with no way to add a drainage hose, the consumer has to manually dump the filled tray. This is tricky at best. So if you're like us and have a warmer kitchen in the summer, your ice will melt fast, and be ready to dump the drip tray multiple times a day. We were very disappointed that our first unit was Dead On Arrival. I noticed in the manual it states not to turn the unit upside down. While unpacking from the box I accidentally turned it upside down before I knew this. Maybe this is why our first unit did not work. Amazon replaced the unit and it's been working as it should. Only complaint is the included water line pipe isn't very long. I'll have to go to a hardware store to buy a longer pipe.

Awful purchase
It makes loud noises we can hear upstairs even when we turn it off, the ice spits out on its own from the dispenser and then wonโt when we actually need the ice. Thank goodness I just bought this for my coffee bar. I wish I could return and get another. Iโm shocked since most of their products I love.

Ice is chewable but.....It is a tad noisy
Ear muffs required not because you are cold but to help soften the racked this ice maker creates when it drops its cubes into the basket. Its loud during the I use well water so I'm not sure if that makes a difference but my ice bullets are just as advertised.

Worth it.
This is the only stand alone ice machine I could find that did crushed ice regular water and ice. Connects to your water line as well can pour the water in. It is very nice. Wish there were more out there to choose from.

Horrible Product! Frigidaire official amazon account wont stand behind
I purchased this ice maker which leaked constantly from setup due to the ice melting in the internal compartment. It went down within the first 6 months of using it and we haven't been able to use it since. It makes ice but the motor won't turn the part inside to dispense the ice. I reached out to Frigidaire who stated that we had to get the part from a 3rd party. I called the company they gave me, and the 3rd party stated that the part was discontinued. The told me to pay a repair company to fix it. $500 for this item to work for only 6 months is a complete waste and Frigidaire does not stand behind their products.

I bought this in late September however just had the time to open and use it in almost mid October. Product looked like it was working for the first week despite the plastic taste when dispensing water. However after a week I noticed my floor flooding and learned that the back of the machine is leaking. I am just glad that Amazon was able to help me get this item refunded.

Initially we liked this machine. We just bought this machine just over year ago. It started making loud noise. Then a heat smell Now the water is completely undrinkable. Very disappointed as this machine is very expensive If I could send back I would. Maybe we go a defected one now back to drinking tap water.
