A WINNER IN MY BOOK
The Motorcraft part (I usually insist on the OEM part) is over $700 once you add their ridiculous shipping charges. The Dorman unit was recommended by my mechanic and several other Town Car owners. Installation was flawless, clearance above comptressor made air box replacement and easy fit with room to spare, bolt matchup (access from underneath) was perfect. Performance once installed was perfect with original ride height and feel, pumped up from completely deflated to proper ride height in less than one minute. Great unit! Even though I had installed new bags and compressor, re-calibration appears to be unnecessary.

Perfect Fit
Not much to say really other than it was an exact replacement for the original pump that died. It was a simple pull and replace type repair and this new pump is whisper quiet, to the point I had to check to be sure it was working at first. My cars air suspension is back to working as designed and all is well. Hopefully this part will last the remaining life of the car.

Best Product for the best price
I put this compressor into my 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis. I live in Wisconsin, so corrosion is a major issue. The original compressor rusted to the point of no longer functioning. I shopped around for the best price on a decent replacement. This Dorman compressor was the best as far as fit, function, and quality. The only real concern was price. I looked at Autozone, Napa, and various online retailers. They all had this exact part, but they were all more expensive. Autozone was 80 dollars more, but also would have taken two weeks to get the part. Napa was 130 more. Then I checked Amazon. The same part. The same brand. Two day shipping. I was extremely pleased. The part arrived and it is perfect. It is a quality part and it fit perfectly to replace the original. It is quiet and has been working extremely well.

dorman 949-200 air ride compressor
2009 grand marquis... got "check air suspension" fault on display, everything seemed fine, but compressor would not cycle. Rear end dropped about two days after fault, so no system leaks; fuses good, ride level switch seemed (attached) good, was hard to catch the compressor running (no indication it is running, and would fault quickly) to check voltage so it was a guessing game, swapped out compressor with this one and it worked immediately after pressing the reset button on the dash... much quieter than the failing original compressor. Also i drilled a hole in the compressor compartment (under the airbox) to help drain as the old one was sitting in water,... thankful it wasn't the module behind the glovebox... also got lucky and got this off the used pile at amazon, great price... (it's $450 at dealership) Note1, after just about 3 years it's starting to get a bit louder. Note2, the description of this product is laughable, it's good for air brushing, nailing, and is dishwasher safe, lol

easy to replace
Replaced the air ride compressor on my 2003 Grand Marquis. Perfect drop in part. Basically turn switch off in trunk. Turn wheels full left. Spray WD-40 on the 3 compressor mounting nuts in front of left wheel well. Remove engine air filter housing and windshield washer tank. Unplug compressor wire connector. Push in on air line red collar and pull line straight out. Pop compressor intake hose off radiator support. Remove the 3 nuts in front of wheel well. lift compressor out. Go back with new compressor and don't for get to turn on switch in trunk. Enjoy a quiet smooth ride. NOTE: mine had rain water pooled under compressor which caused the failure. Drilled some random holes in plastic that compressor mounts to keep it drained. Hope this review helps.

High Quality and Perfect Fit
I HIGHLY recommend this compressor - very high quality. Much better product than the cheap Chinese stuff I saw at the big box auto stores. Extremely quiet. Perfect fit. Pumped up the air suspension much quicker than the old pump I replaced. Well worth the few extra dollars to do it right. Yes I would absolutely recommend this pump again and again and again.

Good but noisy
Installed this on my old hoopty to inflate my air springs because the factory pump was too expensive. The pump itself works great but had a lot more noise to it than the original. For 400 dollars less, I can live with a little noise.
