It's worth buying
Doesn't cost much, containing more than enough info to help with buying decisions.

Light on technical info, but good for absolute beginners
The book is plainly written for an absolute entry level radio operator, to the point of being repetitive often. It provides a lot of information that is redundant for anyone who has already been doing research into GMRS. That's not to say it's not useful! For a family interested in setting up reliable communications in emergencies (or for fun!) this is good for introducing the concepts. It doesn't however contain some of the more useful technical information that sophomore and up radio users need to advance their skills.Overall there is some useful information, for instance a frequency-channel chart, a good explanation of radio horizon, and some buying tips for your first radios... however this mostly equates to information you could seek out in the instruction manual of your radio or online pretty quickly. However if you're the type to prefer having it in book form, I can still suggest this book to you.tl;drIf you are curious about GMRS, grab a copy! Don't bother if you're a more advanced user.

Waste of money. Not Recommended.
No real tech. info. Very general information that can be found on-line for free or by asking a friend. Don't waste your money. Just google it.
