Disclaimer: I am new to leatherworking and have no good frame of reference om quality or expectations from bulk leather.Initial impressions upon opening the box was pleasant surprise. There were varied types, colors, and textures with pieces of varied sizes. Most seemed plenty big enough for useful starter projects with some quite large. It included grays, browns, and beiges of various shades, several black and white or off white scraps. Although not sure their origin, many scraps looked like they would have been used for really nice purses or furniture. Most scraps are large enough for wallets or small items and several would probably work for portfolios, masks or hats. With the variety of colors and textures I would plan on many multiples i.e. you could make a pile of wallets but you may be hard pressed to make more than 2-3 that look the same. If you want to make a bunch of similar cut wallets with different colors and textures then this would be perfect... except not sure if you could make a wallet out of this leather...The heavily caveated cons:As mentioned above I am just starting to mess around with leather working and the great majority (if not all) of the youtube videos and tutorials I've been watching, along with the basic projects I've tried seem to expect much heavier and thicker leather to the point I have trouble using many of the tools or techniques on this leather and when I can, the result isn't very close to the item I'm trying to mirror. As an example, bevellers and burnishing aren't easy with no stiffness to the edge. Skiving takes some patience but due to the thinness not much has to be removed to create results that are thin and flexible. I expect it to work great for one use I'm trying leather working for which is making masks my sons costumes or for halloween costumes.So in conclusion, this seems like leather that would be found on nice items but it is very thin soft, supple leather. I have no idea of its true quality or if the suppleness is desirable... only that it makes it hard to do the starter projects I've been trying. I may buy some thicker leather to practice on but looking forward to creating some stuff with this when I feel confident creating an portolio or ipad cover.

I am very pleasantly surprised with the leather I received! Not only did I receive a great variety, but also very large pieces! Usually when I order scrap leather from other sources, I receive many small, unusable pieces that often have holes and markings all over. This was definitely the exception! They all look fantastic and have the great smell that real leather should (so often you buy a pack of leather like this and it smells of nothing but formaldehyde).I make leather sword handles as a hobby, not enough to buy a whole hide, but enough that a single small piece won't suffice, so this pack was perfect for me as I can probably make upwards of 30 handles. Most other packs I've received from other sources I've only been able to make 5-7 even with the same weight (5lbs).TL;DR - This is by far the best scrap leather pack, especially for the price. Great sized pieces, great variety, no bad smell.**NOTE**In the photos all the larger pieces are folded in half so they're twice as long as appears. Standard 12oz can used for size comparison.

So many big, useful pieces! About half the pieces were thinner, more pliable; the other half were a bit thicker (better for knife cases). There were very, very few damaged spots - I included pictures so you can see how few and how inconsequential. 2 pieces had really interesting texture, so I included pictures of those too. I went with this seller based on just one review because it was such a good review and because of the free return shipping policy. I am so very pleased, and won't bother going anywhere else when I need leather scraps. (By the way, I included a picture of my son holding up a brown piece. My son is 4'9" tall, and the piece is taller than he is.) See the yard still and red ruler in the first picture for size reference.

Large pieces of beautiful leather at a fantastic price. I will be buying again very soon.

Pieces were quite thin and I did not like most of the colours.
