White NightsHonsell Artist Watercolour Set 35 Colours in Metal Case

For me, there are two kinds of watercolor painting: (modern) loose, and (traditional) detailed.Granulating, one-layer paints are best suited for loose painting, while non-granulating, multi-layer glazing paints are best for highly detailed (botanical) renderings.White Nights paint have both granulating (WN - 36 colors in the white tin palette) and non-granulating (WN - 35 colors in the lavender tin palette).I haven't tried the granulating palette b/c I'm into botanicals so I can't comment on the white tin palette. However, I own the lavender tin, non-granulating set.I find these paints to be very pigment rich but capable of delivering clean and clear transparent color. The biggest thing I have found with this paint is, if you use too little water you will get a very creamy consistency that will either streak or color clump.It must be remembered that the purpose of this set is to paint in thin layers. So, the challenge becomes how much water to add.Some people paint straight from the pans. This doesn't work for me; gives me streaks and clumps. Instead, I load my brush from the pan and then create a series of puddles in my Meeden palette which gives me almost pure pigment broken down into a series of lesser strength pigments. This way I get to create a tint for underpainting to varying (color) strengths to use around the whole composition.I like this method b/c it keeps my tin and pans clean all the time.Also, when I swatch, it's one large rectangle being divided into 4 or 5 lesser sizes which shows me how many glazes I will need to achieve the look (color concentration) I need as I go along. And when in doubt, I can compare the color steps on my swatch to what I have already painted to know what's needed next.I'm really pleased with this set of paints from White Nights. They do a beautiful job of delivering consistently even and clear glazes and the colors are vibrant and exciting. I can highly recommend the lavender tin of non-granulating pigments from White Nights for anyone who is interested in watercolor glazing.

Ich hatte bereits einen Holzkasten mit 48 White-Nights Farben, die teilweise schon aufgebraucht waren, deshalb, hab ich mir diesen neuen Kasten gekauft. Ich habe festgestellt, da es im neuen Kasten teilweise auch neue (andere Farben) gibt. Die Qualität der Faren ist wie immer unübertroffen

Ensemble de très bonne qualité pour 35 godets d'aquarelles entiers ainsi qu'une palette en métal. Le choix des couleurs est génial, et si comme moi vous adorez les bleus, il y en a 6 dans cet ensemble.Pratiquement toutes les couleurs sont des mono pigments (pratique pour faire des mélanges non boueux)et surtout, les 35 couleurs possèdent une résistance à la lumière de 3 sur une échelle allant de 1 à 3.La palette d'un beau mauve/lilas est élégant & solide, et l'on peut par la suite racheter soit des godets ou des tubes d'aquarelle à l'unité pour un prix plus que correct.Bref, lorsque j'ai reçu la boite, je me suis cru à Noël, entrain de déballer des pralinés 😊N'hésitez pas, et foncez si vous cherchez à faire de l'aquarelle pour un prix doux (comparé à certaines marques)Petite astuce concernant la boite : le volet mélangeur du bas a tendance à mal s'ouvrir totalement (pour se trouver à plat sur la table par exemple) surtout, n'essayez pas de le forcer pour la mettre à plat.Il ne s'agit pas d'un défaut, mais cela évite à vos jus colorés de couler sur votre espace de travail en créant un léger angle incliné 😉
