It took a little work, but now this wifi adapter is GREAT!
I got this wifi adapter after moving my desktop computer to a new location in my house. I was going to run some CAT5 cable over to it, but I didn't want to deal with that for a while. There was some trouble installing the adapter at first. I run windows 8. The CD it comes with didn't do the trick so I went to their website. It was a little difficult to figure out which drivers to download until I looked on the bottom of the adapter and got a few letters and numbers to search. Once I had that installed, I realized it kept disconnecting. It seemed to be losing power. I got out a powered USB 3.0 hub, and that solved the issue. I'm not sure why this didn't work plugging it directly into my computer, but now I have zero issues with it. I play a lot of online video games and haven't had it disconnect on me once so far! I hope this review helps!

Solid WiFi connection
I've bought two of these now, for a couple desktop computers in a rambling house with very solid walls; I was using a couple simple USB dongles but was getting 2 bars, lousy speeds and frequently dropped signal entirely. These adapters entirely solved my problems; they're lightning fast, and the connection is 5 bars and rock solid at all times. They come with USB 3.0 connectors but I'm not going to waste a blue USB port on them, they work perfectly fine with a USB 2 port.I've seen some comments about the drivers; the included disk had a driver that worked perfectly fine with Windows 10; the downloadable driver that you can find (with great difficulty) on the internet doesn't work at all, don't waste your time with it.

Doubled my download speed!
I've been operating with an old tp-link wireless adapter for my gaming pc for the past five years. With decent internet, my download speeds were averaging between 2-4 megs per second. Now, I regularly pull 8 to 10 megs per second and the reliability is increased.I'm also a fan of how it's no directly plugged into the pc, instead it has a USB cable connection. That makes it easier to find a good place for it and maneuver the antennae.

Do Not Buy -- Did Not Work
I bought this to use on my HP ENVY desktop that is about two years old. It has Win 8.1 Pro, four USB 3.0, six USB 2.0, wireless, and Ethernet 1Gbps RJ45 port. After installing the MediaTek software, I plugged in the AUKEY in one USB 3.0 port -- all as per the manual. During the installation, I turned off my Norton antivirus as recommend per the AUKEY manual. My computer did not recognize that something had been plugged in. I could never manage to open the Mediatek software. I downloaded the latest driver from the AUKEY website and uninstalled, installed, tried different USB ports, rebooted computer, played around for two hours, etc. Nothing worked. The manual says there is no support unless the AUKEY is purchased directly from them!!! Thus, Amazon purchases are apparently no good!!! This is junk. I do not recommend buying this product. As an aside, Win 10 is not listed in the manual as a compatible OS. For the same purchase from Amazon, I also bought a EOUP 600Mbps Dual Band USB Adapter and it works fine. I have expert level computer knowledge.

Drops out frequently and Windows 10 doesn't like latest software
The software that is included with the adapter is a bit dodgy and the adapter intermittently disconnects throughout the day. I'm using Windows 10 64-bit on a desktop and my old Glam Hobby adapter performs more consistently than this does. I downloaded the latest version from the AUKEY website but it triggers certificate alerts on Windows 10 which will not allow it to install. I had bought this hoping that it would give me better download speeds than my Glam Hobby adapter which is an AC600 adapter. On Speedtest.net, it does give me at times 50 mbs faster speeds at 5ghz but I've disconnected it and reinstalled the Glam Hobby adapter because of the frequent dropouts. I'll have to look for another AC1200 or greater device with better software and connectivity to see if I can get better performance.

Had my doubts
Trying to get the 15 yr old xps thats running the no longer supported winxp reconnected to the internet. After many attempts I gave up on reconfiguring the Cisco wireless .I happened across the auk and the 29.00 seemed like pennies to solve the problem. Thanks to the quick shipping from Amazon it arrived the next day.Setup was a snap and the speed is at 144mbps. Definitely recomend

Connects to signals across the house with better reliability.
Works as expected. Connects to signals across the house with better reliability.Update:I did a new build and it doesn't have a cd-rom, attempted to download and install the drivers from Aukey's website. Nothing, they simply don't run or install. Sad.

Highly Recommended.
This actually worked much better than I expected. My router is upstairs in the NE corner of the house and my laptop is in the SW corner downstairs. I used to have a solid 3 bars connection, but with this WiFi Adapter, I now have a solid 5 bars. The speed difference is very noticeable. I should have gotten one of these a long time ago. I highly recommend this.
