Peugeot - Nancy Manual Salt Mill - Transparent Adjustable Grinder for Rock Salt - Acrylic, Clear, 12 inches

I wanted to buy this for a while. I’m glad I finally pulled the trigger. This is a high-quality Peugeot, mill. It is a little tough to get the salt to come out sometimes, but I wonder if it’s just my lack of expertise in using and adjusting grind so far.

This brand is top notch. Although this is expensive, I'm used to going through salt and pepper shakers about twice a year. So, this is a lifesaver. I expect it to last forever like my pepper shaker from the same company. I first ran into puegot in italy at a restaurant. My husband and I immediately wrote down the brand after we handled a pepper mill over our food. These things are sturdy and so smooth. Really nice quality.

I've had a peugeot acrylic pepper grinder for years. Love it. Thought to finally get a matching salt grinder. However, this model will only grind thin flakes of salt. I tried a mortar and pestle to make the rock salt more manageable (it is already the small pebble size). The salt grinder does not grind the salt. I tried pepper corns. It does not work for pepper either. My pepper grinder works perfect with the rock salt. I do wonder if I have a totally bum one, because even the flake salt it came with didn't get broken up very well. If indeed the design is specific for flake salt, that would be something good to put in the descriptions. I'd love to replace it with another pepper grinder that would work for my rock salt. hello? hello? Photos compare grinding mechanism of this salt model with pepper model.

I picked this one, as in Europe those mills are famous, and well known for their quality. The transparent look great, as you can see what salt you've put inside, specially because I've a few of them for black, pink and sea salt.The trick with those kind of grinders is always that you have to tweak the grinder settings with the knob on top. So when you grind, and you touch the knob it will likely change the setting of the grinder. As you only use black and pink salt occasionally, this grinder works fine for it. For sea salt I recommend the other Peogeot mills, like this one: Peugeot PM25458 Daman U'Select Shaftless 8.25 Inch Salt Mill, Stainless Steel. As that one you can 'lock' at the bottom, and grind every day for easy use.

Nice set of salt/pepper mills. I liked my friends so I purchased a set.

This item seems to work with the salt that comes in it - it isn't very coarse. But, as mentioned by another reviewer (that I should have read first!) it doesn't work on Pink Himalyan. The product directions packed with the product, but not mentioned online, list a lot of things including Pink salt that it should not be used with.The quality doesn't seem to me to be as advertised because there is very little selection possible on the fineness of the salt when grinding it - even with the salt that accompanied the unit. It will not grind as coarsely as common table sale, for example. Virtually no adjustment to the coarseness of the grind.For me, this item proved to be useless. If you get it - be certain to use nothing larger than a medium sized salt in it - coarse just won't work.

The product is excellent. Delivery timeframe the 2nd time around was superb. Product packaging was non-existent. It was ina box by itself rolling around.......room for improvement on this. No where to go but up.

Doesn't work, hard to refill, not worth the money!I'm feed up with buying Peugeot salt and pepper grinders. They are supposed to be the best - we are on our 3rd set, having tried in all sizes and all are universally rubbish.You have to jam your thumb into the base of the grinder when refilling in order for the salt crystals or pepper corns not to get stuck in and jam the grinder bit open - that's essentially terrible design. You can't adjust the fineness of the grind - it's either too large or won't grind.Time for us to take this up with Peugeot.Disposable but non-refillable grinders from local supermarkets are much better but I want a product for longer than one cellar's worth and isn't recyclable.

The mechanism inside seems to come out of alignment at the bottom where it grinds so the salt granules come out quite large. I can fiddle around with it to get it realigned, but it does fall out again quite quickly and it is irritating to have to keep doing it. I have another model for pepper which works fantastically. I wish I'd noticed the fault sooner and returned it.

I had problems with this to begin with, but I then realised that it needed the proper salt. After filling it with the rock salt, it worked perfectly.

Excellent product, the best build quality of any product of this nature that I have previously purchased. Highly recommended.I have since bought the pepper mill.

Very elegant and well made salt mill.Unfortunately it arrived with marks on it and will have to be returned.
