A nice little scope.
It's a nice little scope, but does have a tendency to corrupt is firmware and require a rebuild every so often.

Good piece of equipment
A good DSO at a really good price. It has a decent amount of sample memory, nowhere near the high end scopes but it's a good amount for an entry level device which this is. Pretty simple to get to know the basics of the machine and due to the menu systems is far easier to get to grips with than the old analog scopes with their plethora of knobs. Just the basic controls that you use all the time are on the front panel with the lesser used features found in the menu system. This approach makes the scope look less frightening than he analog versions.I haven't used it much (had it for less than a day) but I really like it. The only negative thing if I want to be picky is that the supplied software cd was unreadable. Both my PC optical device and my external drive recognised it as a blank disc and wanted to format it. The drive in my wifes laptop just wouldn't recognise the cd was in the drive. It was obviously a faulty cd as all three optical drives work fine with other disks. The faulty cd isn't a major issue though as all the software, drivers and manual can be downloaded from the Hantek website - even without registering though you do need to register an account to register the device with Hantek for warranty requirements.Yes there are similar entry level DSO's out there with more sampling memory but not at the same price point and the cost of this one was close to amount of what I personally could justify spending. There are many reviews on the internet both good and bad, but I've never seen rany item that didn't didn't get some poor reviews. Some people expect Armani quality for no name prices. I think this item gives extremely good value for money and seems to be giving more than I expected.

An absolute cracker!
This oscilloscope is really rather good - and very easy to use. The interface is most intuitive, with menus that are logically presented and with far more choice than I had expected. I was using it confidently within minutes of switch-on without reference to any documentation. The screen is clear and bright, with independent controls for the electronic graticule and other features. There is considerable versatility about the way the trace and data are presented. The controls are grouped together in a sensible layout and have just the right "feel" about them. The two channels (and the maths function) are colour coordinated with the associated screen trace. There is a square wave output on the front panel that can be used to set the compensation trimmer on the probe - a tool is supplied for this. The probes themselves are of excellent quality. The maths functions include FFT with various filter options. It worked well and was easy to use; the displayed noise level was about -60 dB with respect to a 1 V input signal. Measuring cursors can be invoked in both time domain and frequency domain modes. After playing with the 'scope for half an hour or so, I had a read through the manual; this is supplied in PDF format on a small CD. It was written in good English, unlike many Oriental imports, and provided excellent detail, including many useful pictures and diagrams. It comes with a mains lead fitted with a European-style plug, together with a rather dodgy-looking (and almost certainly illegal!) 13 A adaptor (without a fuse). I soon chopped off the European plug and put a proper one on instead. The case colour is remarkably similar to that of my ancient Tektronix 545A (which also serves as a room heater). This neat little DSO won't do that, but given what it can do, I'll live with that. This really is a gem. I can thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for a very good oscilloscope at a very reasonable price.

Great scope for general DIY use with lots of features found in many more expensive ones.
Came on same day delivery, well packaged and with mini cd and two sets of X1/X10 sets of leads. I cannot read the mini cd, but it was easy to download a PDF of the instructions from the Hantek web site. On the neg side, the PDF did not have the diagrams included, which was an iritation. Last time I used an oscilliscope was 40 years ago,but I found this one fairly intuitive to use. It needed calibration, which was in-built and took around 10 minutes. The test leads also needed to be calibrated using the reference square wave , again built in, and the adjusting non-metallic screwdriver.to square off the sample square wave. I am still familerising myself with the techniques and not used many of the more isoteric functions, but it really does perform very well for the price. On the neg side, I tried to analyse a 27.09 MHz control signal from an Acoms transmitter, but found it difficult to get it to stabilize on a decent square wave display. It is a 100Mhz bandwidth model, so I think I probably needed a 200Mhz one to get a good 27Mhz display. There is apparently a firmware hack that will convert it to 200, so I might try this later.. in summary, I think this is a great item for DIY/ hobby use for the price and would recommend it to others
