It's the only paper for soft chock but way to expensive

A very good paper for my style of work. It is remarkably smooth for the amount of pastel it can hold. I can layer, blend, and rework my subjects and not worry too much about damaging the surface. Sometimes there are lines that look like a sort of grain across the paper, but as I usually cover the entire paper with pastel it is not noticeable in the end. My only wish is that Amazon used greater care when shipping fragile art supplies.

I know why professional artists use this paper, it is amazing. I wish it were not so expensive but it is worth it. My paintings come out so much better using it and it makes painting more fun. If you can splurge then try it but I found that using a harder pastel is better or you will go through your pastels too fast. The rough surface will just eat them up. Rembrants do ok or even the ones from Dick Blick do great. Diane Townsends will be gone by the time you finish your painting to reserve them for highlights. You can also do you first layer in Pan Pastel and that will save your other materials. ArtByLeClaireDesigns

I’m fairly new to pastel painting and have heard wonderful reviews of this paper from many pastel artists. I’m very pleased with its ability to do washes and layering of pastels. I will continue to purchase this product!

The white Pastelmat is great, it takes watercolor for underpainting incredibly well -- it diffuses into the paper just like good cotton paper. And it performs like a sanded surface without the sand. (Apparently it has a cork surface to hold the pastel). But my pad came shrink wrapped -- good, except it was wrapped too tightly and it warped the pad. I taped a piece down and watercolored it, left it to dry several days, thought this would flatten the paper. It seemed to for a bit, then went back to the warped state! I guess I will buy from Blick next time.

This is my first use of pastelmat and I’m loving it! I’m able to lay down far more layers of pigment than with standard drawing paper.

Love how easy it is to work with

This paper is amazing for colored pencil! It takes many layers and allows you to get very vivid and saturated color. I especially love the dark blackish color, as I've never been able to find a black paper that would allow me to lay down enough color pencil to become opaque. This definitely allows me to achieve that contrast very well

Utilisé avec du pastel sec. Plusieurs superpositions de couches possibles (ne pas appuyer trop fort pour ne pas saturer le paper trop vite). J’aime beaucoup.

C’est le meilleur support pour faire du pastel sec.

Holds a lot of layers, I chose a smaller size as this suits me well. Also got a good deal on price. Keep your eye out on different colours and sizes! This isn't a cheap product at the best of times so get a deal where u can!Fantastic product, smooth but "grippy".
