All Things Beautiful: An Aesthetic Christology

Truly a “Beautiful Thing”
Reading/Hearing/Praying through this book, as with all of Dr. Green’s works, requires patience, pen and highlighter… and Elijah Craig.

Too Good
Chris’ new book is almost overwhelmingly too hopeful - too beautiful. Dare we reach for such a truthful way to live together? You will be challenged by the beauty, goodness, and truth his theology helps us to embrace.

Most important book on Christ and creativity I have ever read.
I cannot overstate joy I had reading this book. Green delves into everything I’ve always felt as an artist but never knew how to articulate. This is most certainly a meditative read, that I will continue to come back to.Especially recommended for fans of Tarkovsky and Malick!

The astonishing and bewildering artistry of God in the humanity of Jesus Christ and in our humanity.
Chris Green is at once astonished and bewildered by the sort of God and by the kind of humanity he encounters in Jesus Christ. He espies Christ everywhere: in the radiant films of Terrence Malick, in the hero myth of the American wilderness, in the verse of Dante and Updike, in the misinterpretations of the binding of Isaac and the suffering of Job, in the fools of Dostoevsky’s novels and O’Connor’s stories, in the murder of the gasping-for-air George Floyd…everywhere. And as he guides us through the seasons of the Christian sacred year, nothing about Christ and the world—about the artistry of God and about our art—turns out to be what we assumed. In Green’s unsettling and affirming vision there’s in everything and everyone more of the mystery of divinity and humanity than we imagined. Did I tell you he also writes about painting?
