Wileyfox Swift 4G Dual SIM-Free UNLOCKED Smartphone

I had someone drop this off at my tech repair company because he did not want the phone anymore. After using this device, I liked it. It felt a little small in my hands since my daily driver phone is the LG V10. But this is a wonderful little phone. It has a decent camera. The audio quality is nice, and it has a decent battery life to it. This would be the PERFECT phone to use from my stand point if I was to travel the outside the Country and needed a phone to use on a different network over seas.

Amazing phone but sadly it cannot work with any US carrier. It only allows Edge network 2g and that itself is buggy 3g/4g in US use different bands If you have a EU carrier then this phone is 5 star

I bought this phone on the promise of it being open and standard. Then the headphone jack failed. The system is becoming less responsive and taking longer to start. I could live with that. The real problem is that it only works on limited types of networks. This wasn't a problem in the UK or Iceland, but in NZ it works on half the networks and in Thailand none of them. So. What's the point of a phone I can't use as a phone. Can't even use it as an mp3 player.

I have three of these (for family members) as they are good value only problem is that the Bluetooth capability is rubbish when it comes to User to Recipient, I have queried this with Wiley Swift Support and all they can say is "send it back for repair". Sorry just not good enough. There is obviously a software problem that requires a simple update. Not impressed with the so called support.

Meine groben Anforderungen an ein gutes Handy sind bzw. waren: - flüssiges Arbeiten auch bei Multitasking (also min. 2GB RAM, keine uralt CPU) - kein Herstelleraufsatz, also möglichst Vanilla-Android - ca. 4,7-5" Display - Dual-Sim - SD-Karten-Slot mit 16GB oder ohne SD mit min. 32GB internem Speicher - möglichst günstig - erhöhte Chancen lange mit Updates bedient zu werden Ich hatte lange ein Nexus 4 und war bisher auch Fan der Nexus Reihe. Nachdem allerdings die Preise dort nicht mehr wie zu Nexus4/5-Zeiten sind und Motorola mit dem Moto G (2013-2014) ein interessantes Preis/Leistungswunder geliefert hatte, hielt ich Ausschau nach etwas günstigerem für mich. Das Moto G (2014) war in meinem Besitz aber hier habe ich festgestellt, dass für meine Zwecke 1GB RAM und 8Gb interner Speicher (trotz SD-Karte) zu wenig sind. Das Moto G (2015) hatte leider kein Dual-Sim (mehr) und kostete auch schon wieder viel mehr. Soviel zur Vorgeschichte. Mit dem Swift bin ich sehr zufrieden. Es läuft alles einwandfrei, bis auf ein paar Kleinigkeiten fast schon perfekt - und das für einen unglaublichen Preis. Klar ist dabei, dass es sich bei dem Preis auch nicht um ein Iphone handeln kann, d.h. es geht auf jeden Fall noch dünner, heller, schöner, edler. *** Im Detail - Betriebssystem: Ich hätte es nicht gedacht, aber das begeistert mich mit am meisten. Man kann so viel sinnvolle Sachen einstellen, muss es aber nicht. Es erscheint schlank wie ein Nexus, hat aber etliche Funktionen integriert die ich früher mit mehreren anderen Apps realisiert habe oder gar nicht möglich waren (wechsel zur vorherigen App durch langen Druck auf das Viereck, verschiedene Profile anlegen, Farben/Helligkeit der Benachrichtigungs-LED konfigurieren, Abends augenschonendere Displayfarben, APP Berechtigungen verwalten/einschränken...). Es macht Spaß :-) - Display: Auflösung und Helligkeit absolut ausreichend; man kann das Display auch gut draußen bei Sonnenschein lesen. Hier ist bestimmt Luft nach oben, aber m.M.n. an der richtigen Stelle gespart - Telefon: Klangqualität und Netzempfang sind in Ordnung, Sprachqualität besser als beim Moto G (2014) - GPS: funktioniert einwandfrei (Nachtrag: siehe Update I) - RAM/CPU: Die Performance ist klasse, mehr braucht man eigentlich nicht. Das einzige was ab und an feststellbar ist, dass Animationen manchmal etwas ruckeln. Ich habe allerdings keine RAM-Engpässe oder Abstürze feststellen können obwohl ich gerne mal viel gleichzeitig laufen habe (z. B. Musik über BT + Navi im Hintergrund + 3. App). Auch Apps starten schnell, man hat nicht das Gefühl auf das Handy warten zu müssen. Und das obwohl ich rund 100 Apps installiert habe, einige davon laufen permanent im Hintergrund (Whatsapp, Tasker, Wetter, Google Now, Müllwecker...) - Kamera: Ich habe gerne gute Bilder und dafür auch gute Kameras. Für den Fall, dass ich keine Kamera dabei habe, ist die Qualität voll in Ordnung. Als Ersatz für eine ordentliche Kamera ist sie nicht geeignet (das ist ein Handy aber meines Erachtens naturgemäß nicht, allein aus haptischen Gründen). - Akku: Ist nicht überdurchschnittlich aber ausreichend. Einen Tag hält er bei mir normal durch. (siehe Updates) - Updates: Da kann man erst was dazu sagen wenn es so weit ist, bin aber guter Dinge.. (siehe Update II) *** Wichtig zu wissen: - Die Dual-Sim-Funktion ist sehr rudimentär implementiert. Mit der aktuellen SW-Version kann man für Tel/SMS/Internet nur zuweisen "SIM1/SIM2/Immer fragen(nicht bei Internet)". Ich kann damit leben, hoffe aber auf eine erweiterte Funktion nach einem möglichen Update. - Die Mikro-USB-Buchse liegt etwas tiefer im Handy als bei einigen anderen Handys. Dadurch hält z.B. das Ladekabel vom Nexus 4 nicht richtig. Die meisten anderen halten gut. Im Notfall kann man ein vorhandenes Kabel evtl. mit einem Messer bearbeiten/kürzen. - Die Benachrichtiguns-LED ist standardmäßig sehr hell (vor allem Nachts auf dem Nachttisch störend), kann aber konfiguriert werden -> in den Einstellungen für die Farben mehr Schwarzanteil einstellen - Die automatische Displayhelligkeitssteuerung geht relativ früh auf die maximale Helligkeit. Der Lux-Sensor ist ok und misst auch wenn es heller ist korrekt. Bis ein eventueller Fix kommt habe ich die Automatik deaktiviert. Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit dem Handy, Preis-Leistungsmäßig gibt es momentan nichts besseres. *** Update I (nach 2 Wochen): Akku: Die ersten ca. 10% des Akkus verschwinden bei mir rasend schnell, erst danach ist die Anzeige realistisch. Ich habe Google Now mittlerweile deaktiviert da das bei mir zu einem erheblichen Akkuverbrauch durch ständiges "Aktiv lassen" geführt hat (das war bei den letzten Handys nicht so massiv feststellbar - trotzdem aber eher ein Problem der Google-App). Ohne Google Now und unter Berücksichtigung der nicht nutzbaren ersten 10% ist der Akku für mich voll in Ordnung. GPS: Ich bin mittlerweile mit dem Handy über 1000 km problemlos navigiert und hatte tatsächlich zuletzt das erste Mal einen Effekt, den evtl. auch andere hatten die über Probleme mit dem GPS berichtet hatten: Navigation über Google Maps, GPS unterbricht in unregelmäßigen Abständen für eine gefühlte Millisekunde. Die Folge ist jedes Mal eine Ansage, wie lange ich auf der Strecke bleiben soll, - das Navi hat dabei trotzdem, zwar nervig, nutzbar funktioniert. Bei anderen Navi-Apps (MAPS.ME, Scout) war das nicht der Fall. Ich hab ein dann ein bisschen hin und her probiert (war ja die ganze Zeit nicht so) und hab den Fehler beim Fahren wegbekommen, indem ich während der Maps-Navigation parallel eine weitere Navigationsapp gestartet und navigieren lassen habe. Daraufhin ist Maps wieder einwandfrei gelaufen. Auch ein "hartes" Beenden der zusätzlichen Naviapp führte nicht wieder zu dem alten Zustand. Vielleicht hilft das jemand mit Navi Problemen weiter. Scheint aber auf jeden Fall an der Software und nicht an der Hardware zu liegen. SD-Karte: Habe zwischendurch eine 64GB SD-Karte probiert, wurde vom Handy ohne Probleme erkannt *** Update II (nach 5 Wochen): Akku: mittlerweile hab ich Google Now wieder aktiviert; der Akku verliert den Tag über ohne Nutzung ca. 40% - das erschien mir am Anfang viel, ist aber mit aktiviertem Standortverlauf, Google Now, BT+WLan immer an und mit verbundenem MiBand, dass bei jeder Mail und Whatsapp-Nachricht vibriert. Dadurch habe ich auch lange "aktiv lassen"-Zeiten. Nutze ich das Handy mal intensiver (3-5h Display an, Nachrichten schreiben, Musik hören, Spielchen) hab ich Abends meist trotzdem noch 10% wenn es ans Ladegerät geht -> nach 16h ohne Nachladen GPS: Nach einer (nicht zwingend nötigen) Modifikation ist das Thema für mich eigentlich erledigt. Es hat nicht das genaueste GPS (Geschwindigkeitsanzeige beim Fahren mit Tempomat schwankt leicht) aber ist absolut praxistauglich. Nachdem ich bemerkt habe, dass das Signal etwas besser wird, allein wenn der Deckel nicht komplett angeclipst ist, habe ich mir eine dünne Pappkarte zugeschnitten (auf den Bereich der im Deckel beschichtet ist) und zwischen Deckel und Handy gelegt. Das Problem mit Maps (siehe Update I) besteht noch, da bin ich immer noch von Softwareproblemen überzeugt. Evtl. liegt es an der installierten APP "GPS Status" die sich bei jeder GPS- Nutzung zwischenrein hängt. Werde es weiter beobachten. Updates: Ein kleines Update kam zwischenzeitlich, das lässt auf Android 6.0 hoffen :-)

Per essere una produzione interamente europea (pur se il telefono in se è made in china, come tutto ormai) direi che si presenta come un ottimo compromesso qualità prezzo. Con un processore Qualcomm Snapdragon, quindi comunque di fascia alta, a 64bit e con 2GB di RAM onboard, indubbiamente risulta decisamente migliore rispetto a tanti altri prodotti di case ben più conosciute sul mercato della telefonia mobile. Il prezzo avrebbe potuto essere più economico, forse, ma considerando che la casa madre è in Regno Unito (e nel continente ci perdiamo non poco con il cambio euro-sterlina) direi che è perfettamente in linea con il mercato. In ogni caso un telefono analogo, lo Xiaomi Redmi2 Pro, se importato direttamente dalla Cina non viene a costare molto meno considerando il dazio doganale. La fattura è ottima e il fatto che sia venduto con la versione commerciale (no root e PlayStore installato di base) della celeberrima CyanogenMod, fa di questo telefono sicuramente un prodotto da tenere in considerazione per chi, come me, non accetta di spendere più di 300€ per oggetti di questo tipo. Non ha applicazioni invasive installate di default (al contrario di altri prodotti), e se uno non è soddisfatto dal non avere accesso root, può facilmente cambiare da CyanogenOS a CyanogenMod senza grossi problemi!

Para mi es el smartphone perfecto de gama baja. Tiene la potencia suficiente para todas las tareas básicos, una buena cámara y una batería suficiente. Y la resolución de la pantalla está bien también. Además es muy barato!

I'm very impressed. This is an incredible handset by any standard, more so at its low price. Cyanogen is its major advantage, but not its only strength by any means as the device is also blessed with a beautiful screen, a great camera and - so far - excellent battery life. I got two days switched on between 9am and 11pm, transferring files and folders to the micro SD I'd put in and watching about three solid hours of film, listening to slightly more music via the Monster headset I kept back from the outgoing HOX, installing themes, adjusting settings, trying everything for familiarisation purposes and generally not missing the HOX that much as I went! The handset is light and yes, it lacks the HOX's polycarbonate monocoque's impressive rigidity, but the battery in the Swift doesn't take an hour to remove & refit and the device is remarkably taut once the back cover is attached. The Swift also feels good to hold and the case back's slightly coarse texture means that it never feels as though it's about to slither away from the hand holding it. With the LG WebOS "Magic remote" application installed, it works perfectly as a controller for the TV and had no trouble finding and connecting via WiFi direct, just as I had wanted it to do. The Swift is blessed with much more sensitive reception than either of my previous two 'phones, both of them high end devices and although we've no 3g, HS packet access or 4g here, a 30 mile drive found me some mobile internet and showed that [the device] is good at that too, which by that time was no great surprise to me and is in line with its general level of performance. The RAM has never been extended anywhere close to its limit, the processor runs in a similarly unstressed manner and even when playing some fairly memory hungry games, battery temperature remained well below 40C. I have already tried it with a 128GB Micro SDHC/XC card and as it's well documented in the reviews that it can run happily with 200GB installed, that's a route I may explore if I manage to fill its 128GB card with lossless music, HD films and documents. I had my doubts right until the handset got here but it won me over within the first few hours of my owning it and I had thought that my much loved HOX would have been a much harder act to follow. I'm completely satisfied with every aspect of the Wileyfox experience and can recommend this to anyone who can see past the "Emperor's new clothes" appeal of the ridiculously overpriced, often less versatile devices that some folk think they need.

I will update this review when I've had the phone for a while and can see how it is performing over time, but I had to come on straight away to say how thrilled I am with this phone after a day. I've been hunting around for a replacement for my old HTC Sensation, which despite having been rooted and having cyanogenmod kitkat installed, is really showing its age - short on memory, laggy, generally irritating to use. I had more or less settled on a Nexus 5X, and then by chance stumbled across Wileyfox on Amazon. For around 120-130 quid, the spec looked pretty amazing. And the reviews seemed polarised between "it's brilliant" and "it was brilliant but it broke". I had pretty much decided that for the money it was worth a punt. If it worked, it looked like a good phone. If it broke, I'd return it. But then fate stepped in and sealed the deal when this popped up on the daily deals for 99 quid. No brainer, I pressed the buy button straight away. Then as my current virgin sim will not fit, I ordered a giffgaff sim (which is 4G!) so I could shove 5 pounds on that and use it for testing before I take the final plunge and take to my sim with scissors to make it fit this phone, which takes micro sims, 2 of them. Phone and sim arrived the following morning. The phone is superb. Nice feel, lovely sharp bright screen, and no stuttering or lag, it just responds instantly to app launches, scrolling, browsing, facebook, camera, gallery - for me this is a total revelation in phone use, in a series of high end HTC handsets, I have never had a phone that behaves like this. I agree with others, the usb cable that comes with it is a bit odd, not very flexible and stupidly short. I can also see why people have trouble with other cables due to the way the socket on the phone is recessed within the case, a silly design issue. But I can report that luckily the cable from my old HTC fits and charges it just fine. For the money, it is an absolute steal. I really do not see how there can be 500 pounds or more extra value in something like a galaxy s7. That is an awful lot of money you could do something else with. All I have to hope for now is that it doesn't break, as some seem to report. But if it does, back it goes. If it doesn't, I am very happy indeed. Watch this space... UPDATE: I've had the phone for a month now, and the good news is, it hasn't broken! Even more good news is, it continues to please me no end. No hangs, no stuttering, no random reboots, no snags using it, no annoyances like missed alarms - it just works. Instantly responsive, totally smooth, fast, good phone signal (better than my HTC Sensation), faultless handling of two sims and directing of calls and data through either, good 4G (first time I have had this). WIFI and bluetooth performance is also very good, no issues at all. I ordered a giffgaff sim to test it initially because my existing virgin sim was full-sized and I didn't want to commit to the new phone and then not be able to go back to my old phone if there were problems, but I very quickly gave in to temptation and got the scissors out to cut my virgin sim down to size. I used the remaining card left after popping out the appropriate giffgaff sim as a template to draw lines on my virgin sim, and just snipped it. Fits and works perfectly. So don't be scared if you have to do the same. Battery life is great. I am a fairly light user, but I leave wifi on all day, and I also leave bluetooth switched on all the time so that it connects when I get in the car without having to muck about, and it easily goes 2 days for me on a full charge. Leaving the bluetooth on all the time (but not connected) seems to make no discernible difference to battery life. It typically loses 1-3% overnight. I have not timed it carefully but a full charge from 10% seems to take 2-3 hours, it is not very quick, even using an Anker 2.4amp charger and Anker cables. But that is not a problem for me. So, this is what using a smart phone is meant to feel like... I just never knew up to now. Superb. And at this price, a total bargain. Why pay 500 pounds more for something with a known badge on it that does the same thing, or perhaps has a fingerprint reader that this doesn't? Is it really worth that? I don't think so. If you are in any doubt about how good this phone is, just buy one and try it. If you don't like it, or it breaks, send it back. But I think you'll like it. FURTHER UPDATE: Had the phone for about 7 months now, and it continues to delight me. Faultless operation, smooth, speedy, brilliant.
