If you drink protein mixes or other powder drinks this is a great find!The item consists of a rechargeable motor base unit, a detachable plastic mixing vessel, a detachable plastic flip top lid with drinking spout, and a USB/Pin charging cord. Everything comes packaged in a nice box with product information and appealing graphics.The base unit contains the motor, battery, and has a "push and hold" switch to turn on the mixer. There is also a covered port for the pin end of the charging cable (wish it used a standard USB to micro USB cable; I have tons of those!). On top of the base unit is a small plastic rotator that connects with a receiver on the bottom of the mixing vessel.The mixing vessel is clear plastic, holds 16 ounces (measuring lines in oz and ml on the side), and has a rotating receiver on the bottom. Inside the vessel is the thin plastic mixing blade which resembles a satellite dish on a tower (no other way to describe it!). The blade is integral to the vessel; you can't remove it. However, cleaning is easy since you just fill the vessel with clean water and a small dab of soap and run the mixer to clean the vessel and the blade.The top twists on/off with a gentle twist (tabs and tab locks; not a screw top). The flip top securely seals the drinking port. When affixed to the vessel I didn't have any problems with leakage.The instructions say to keep the motor turning while pouring in your liquid, and then keep it turning while adding powder. However, I've found it easier to add liquid, then turn on the motor while adding powder. Keeping the motor running while adding powder keeps it from sticking to the sides or bottom (and if you've used protein powder you know how easily it clumps when wet and sticks to things). When used in this manner I've achieved very good results. NOTE: If you fill the vessel all the way full (16 ounces) and turn on the motor without the lid on top, the liquid WILL spill out of the top! I fill to the 12-14 ounce level and turn the motor on with no issues.This mixer is a great unit and vastly superior to shaker bottles (which I found don't really work with protein powders!). The mixer isn't suitable for anything other than powders (such as fruit). I do wish the unit had a standard USB/micro USB cable so I didn't have to worry about always having the unique USB/pin cable at hand! However, that is a minor complaint about a very effective and useful mixer that suits my needs! Recommended. This thing works well for blending protein powder, but the battery stopped functioning after two weeks. I think this is because I let it run all the way down, and now it won't charge. That's pretty lame, but it still functions as a USB powered shake mixer and does a good job in that capacity, so I gave it two stars instead of one.If you want this to use over and over again without access to a power source, you might want to consider a different product.

Use is daily to mix my shakes in class. Blends smooth and consistent. Only complaint is the battery doesn't make it through the day when I do 2 shakes.

It broke after just a couple uses. The spinner would only spin about halfway around and then stop after we pushed the button. Had to return it.

This vortex bottle works perfectly. I put mass amounts of gainer protein powder inside (which usually fills the cup more than halfway alone) and it has no problem blending it all up with liquid. Worth the money, no doubt.

I bought this for my daughter who is in the Navy on deployment so she can mix her protein shakes right from her laptop in the bunk on the ship....she really loves it and she says it does a great job...her other shipmates want one too....lolol

We had trouble getting it to hold a charge, and my boyfriend broke the cup. He is tough on things but not that tough. The biggest issue was the charge, he travels and needed it to work for several days in a row. Mixes powder great thought!

Using this while deployed. I had my doubts, but this mixer is performing well for my Whey protein drinks. Pretty impressed with it's mixing power all things considering. We will see how the battery lasts, but for now I'm satisfied.
