Well constructed
Three for the price of one! But each leading back to murder, treachery blackmail and bank fraud. All originating from a death in Crete during the second world war. An escape by an honourable man, revolving around the criminals of war torn London and beyond. Good read!

Masterful
His most comprehensive and most enjoyable work to date, skilfully maintaining the reader's interest in multiple connected sub-plots and characters, very much like a plate-spinner (or should that be plot-spinner?) keeping all his plates aloft, then gradually removing them one by one as the show comes to a close. The author is clearly master of his brief.

Good read!
Okay, so I didn't read the first two books of this series, maybe I would have a better grasp of what's going on if I had, but oh well. It probably would have helped tie in the various plotlines and stories lost on me!This was an intriguing novel with a well-developed plot that clearly had a lot of thought going into it. I liked the diverse lineup of characters and storylines that this book offered, giving us multiple POVs that created a much broader and open atmosphere. There were some directions this book took toward the middle and end that lost me a little, my grasp of the concepts began to loosen because I started getting confused between all the characters and history and everything. Overall, I like the character dynamics and it's really well-written with very detailed language that made the experience so much more intimate :) I recommend for someone who is into lore-riddled thriller! Was wanting to know more the whole time hehe.

Enjoyable read
This is the second Frank Merlin novel I’ve read and again it did not disappoint. It’s war-torn London during the summer of 1941 and DCI Merlin has to investigate a series of crimes. There’s a botched abortion, spies, murder and double agents.A gripping read from beginning to end. Highly recommended.
