MolymodMms-051 Organic Stereochemistry Student Molecular Model Set

I have a few molymod sets for different purposes and also "copy" sets that are not original molymod but seem to work and be of the same quality. I brought this particular set as I needed the special carbon atoms which you can attach p-orbitals in order to work out stereochemistry of cycloadditon reactions.The quality of this particular set seems really poor, you have to use brute force to get the majority of the single bonds to go into the carbon atoms, I tried quite a lot of them and most are the same. When I am paying £22.00 for plastic balls and sticks I expect good quality, I am not sure if their standards have slipped or if this set was a one of dud, whatever the reason I expected more from the original brand.I am going to be returning for either a refund or replacement.

Set gives a nice choice of ball & stick or quasi-space-filling models.Slight difficulty with short links - hard to fit into some C(sp2, 5-hole) & C(sp3, 4-hole) atoms.Lack of sp2 (5-hole) N is a limitation - e.g. can't make flat peptide bond.Halogen atoms (Cl,Br,I) are too small ! At 17mm, they're smaller than the 19mm "molydome" H atoms. Should be *at least* as big as C/N/O atoms (23mm).

DS loved it. Not too stiff to take apart.

Excellent, easy to use and most importantly brilliant for learning stererochemistry including, E/Z, R/S isomerism, excellent bit of kit must buy for all chemistry students.
