The Young Master

In 1979 Jackie Chan broke his contract with Lo Wei and signed himself over to Raymond Chow's Golden Harvest Group.His first project there was a true milestone in the annuls of kung fu cinema.Chan plays Dragon the younger of two orphans staying at a kung fu school that's preparing for the annual dragon dance contest.Unbeknownst to them there lead lion dancer (Wei Pei) has defected to the rival school,that ultimately causes them to loose the contest.When they're master finds out he's furious and kicks Wei Pei out.Pei returns to the school that payed him to work for them before.They take him on because they're looking for a third person to assist them breaking out their master,the fearsome Tiger Kim.When Chan confronts his master about the way that he's been bullying everyone he has a moment of compassion and sends Chan out to bring back Pei.With master Kim now free and Chan mistakenly put in the frame for the escape,he must ultimately bring master Kim in to clear his name.This is a stunning film with high production values a great cast that includes Yuen Biao,Wang In-Sik,Lee Hoi San,Fong Hak On and Lilly Li.The action is top notch and features a classic end fight that goes on for about 20 minutes.There's also a fantastic music score taken from Holst's Planet Suite.When the film opened in 1980 it broke all box office records throughout Asia and Chinatowns worldwide.Overall this is an absolutely brilliant film with great performances,great action and some great comic moments.Thanks for reading and I hope that you enjoy the film.

Cool DVD old school

When I ordered this flim expectations were low as I really like JC in drunken master and snake in eagles shadow and didn't think they could be topped as classics. So this time many years after seeing I had to say wow. This was funny and entertaining from start to finish. This is without doubt one of JCs best old school flims.

Excellent Double Disc Set

The item was delivered on time but the film itself was not able to view as there was a tiny scratch on the disc. But apart from that it was fine

Love it action movie

I watched the VHS version years ago. I watched it everyday growing up. I bought the DVD recently and was so disappointed with the dubbing!! It wasn't what I grew up with, I was so upset. The music, the voices even the story was different. Does anyone know if you can get the original version on DVD!!!

This movie is simply one of Jackie chan's best movies ever.The Blu-ray however is region B ONLY. No matter what you read don't but it unless you're region B or have a region free player.

Kurz nach seinem endgültigen Durchbruch in Asien entstanden, wird hier mit etwas größerem Budget ausgiebig zelebriert, wofür der Meister aller Klassen seitdem steht: Furiose akrobatische Action, kombiniert mit teils haarsträubend witziger Comedy und Slapstick vom Feinsten. Chan selbst, der bei diesem Film auch Regie führte, präsentiert sich bestens aufgelegt, ist für jede akrobatische Albernheit zu haben (Kampf mit dem Fächer, Kampf auf engsten Raum, bei dem eine Pfeife nicht zerbrechen darf, Kampf quasi nackt und verschlammt um Seife in einem Badehaus, virtuoser Kampf mit Holzbänken gegen seinen Kumpel Yuen Biao), zeigt seine üblichen Gimmicks (Wände hoch laufen, exzessivstes Muskeltraining bei gespielter absoluter Unlust) und präsentiert einen atemberaubenden, ernsthaften Schlusskampf über Minuten hinweg - lange Sequenzen ohne viel Schnitte und bei dieser Veröffentlichung auch nicht zerschnitten. Es ist wunderbar, dies auch noch in recht guter Bild- und Tonqualität präsentiert zu bekommen.

Ich liebe die Jackie Chan Filme aus dieser und anderen Sammlungen.Eine sehr gelungene Reihe mit schon lange nicht mehr gesehenen Filmen die mir viel Freude bereiten.

Like all of the 20th Century Fox DVD's in this set, this movie has excellent digitally restored video and sound. As good as the Dragon Dynasty's restored DVD's. The plot gives plenty of excuses for lots of kung fu actions in this movie! The choreography is very well-done. This is a keeper!Thanks to 20th Century Fox for a great job in restoring this classic, I love it!
