I compared the keyboard layout on gen 5 and newer with my mom's X1 Carbon 4th gen laptop, and there are definite differences meaning that most keyboard covers for the newer gens do not fit mine. But I noticed in the pictures this pad is cut differently than other Gen 5 covers that have come up in my search results so I took a chance as my mom really wanted a colorful keyboard cover for her laptop. I am happy to report that this fits her Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 4 laptop perfectly.

This fits really well and it doesn’t slide around or anything like that, but it’s a little bit on the thicker side, so it makes typing difficult. I always leave it on because I like the way it looks, but I end up taking it off for long emails which kind of defeats the purpose.

It does not fit to 14 inch, X1 thinkpad.
