I am delighted by Ball's perspective on teaching. I'd like to buy a copy of the book for every friend who teaches and my former students who may find themselves teaching. The "Notes in no order" justify the book's value and there are additionally the syllabi (worthwhile for their reading lists alone) and a wonderful segment called "The Asking" which offers in detail an exciting alternative to the writing workshop.Ball is generous, modest, and convincing. This is a person who cares about giving his students the best opportunity to grow and learn.

It was interesting although I wish he went more into hierchy rather than syllabus.

A must read for any one who teaches, especially anything related to making art or writing on a college or graduate level.
