UPDATED REVIEW:I had initially written a 2 stars review since the thermometer was broken before I could even use it once, but customer service was very nice and quick and they're now sending a brand new one, even though my purchase was made quite a while ago. Way to go Anpro.INITIAL 2 STARS REVIEW:I bought this thermometer a while ago, maybe a year? But never really ended up using it, because it didn't come with batteries and I never had the need for it enough to motivate me to buy batteries. Today though I finally decided that I needed it and I got batteries.I put them in for the first time, and it turns on, but that's about it!Inside the screen, there's a plastic piece that seems to be out of place and covers the C or F, the ON/OFF switch doesn't work and neither does the F/C one.So yeah...first time turning it on and it's useless....hip hip hurray.The only reason why I am giving 2 stars rather than 1 is because I just wrote the company and I am hoping that they will come back to me with some good customer service response.....fingers crossed!

Pretty fast. I tested it with some hot water and it read up to about 160 F degrees and stabilized in about 3 seconds, having started at a room temperature of 62. If water is just warm, not hot, it reads about 1 degree F in one second, but put in hot water it climbs much faster. The numbers on the LCD display are about 1/4 inch high, which I can read with no problem. (The letters on a typical keyboard are smaller than 1/4"!) The product seems well made and sturdy, although lightweight. In cooking I will be testing small things, like a fillet of baked fish or chicken, so the length of the probe is just right for me.I am giving this thermometer 4 stars instead of 5, because the first one I bought was extremely slow right out of the box, either because it had been shipped with low batteries or because it was actually defective. That one I returned; however the distributor contacted me, apologized for the inconvenience and shipped me a new one that works perfectly. So I give their customer service 5 stars! Judging from the reviews here on Amazon, a handful of people have had slow ones shipped to them; my advice would be to return it and buy another one, which will very likely be fine. Having said that, I reduced the rating by the one star because of the few defective ones that ship (due to low batteries shipping out in my opinion).

Bought in December of 2016, just broke yesterday in July of 2022. I use it a ton and prefer over the probe type with tether. The main reason I bought this one vs another is the reliability and I love the cover. Most don't come with a full cover.

Awesome for the price, does exactly what it's made for. We use it to get instantaneous pool water readings.

the battery I bought for this product did not work.

Being an engineer, I decided to conduct an experiment to determine the accuracy of the thermometer. I acquired some distilled water and used some to make some ice cubes and some to bring to a boil. After the ice cubes were frozen, I placed them in a bowl and allowed them to begin to thaw. I live in LA so altitude is not a factor in this measurement. I now have two temperature reference points to use in the measurement. When placed in the boiling water, the thermometer read 98.7 degrees c and 209.7 degrees F. When placed in the bowl of melting ice, the thermometer read 0.7 degrees c and 33.2 degrees F. This is more than accurate enough to carry out its primary function of cooking food.The device comes with a protective sleeve that covers the measurement rod when the device is not in use. And it has a clip (like that on a pen) that allows you to insert it into your pocket to provide you easy access as you do your cooking. It appears to be well made and has worked very well for me during the short time I have had the unit.

This thermometer is great, and I was about to only give it 4 stars due to one small problem I encountered when I was monitoring oil temperature when frying, but them I remembered I didn't buy it specifically for that. I bought it for candy making purposes, and its not really made for the oil thing.My 2 cons with this product:1)The thermometer over heated and shut down completely when left in the pan with hot oil, (Resting the display on the side).2) Con #1 is caused by con #1 because there is NO CLIP on the side or cap or anywhere to hold this thermometer in place while getting a reading, causing you to have to rest the thermometer on the pan, or stand there and potentially burn your hand,Pros:1) Very easy to use. It is pretty self explanatory.2) Seems to be accurate. I used it to monitor hot oil to fry donut holes and they were perfect.Overall great value for the price, and it gets the job done correctly.

This is a quick and easy to use digital thermometer.It has 2 buttons on either side of the LCD. One is for on/off and one is for C/F (Celsius/Fahrenheit)It has a high temperature range. I have not needed it to get over 200, but it will.This thermometer is the type to give constant output. It does not reach a temperature then beep, like the kind you take to get your body temperature. It will continue to read the temperature changes as long as it's turned on.This comes with a cover for it that is easy to put on and take off. My spouse accidentally learned that the temperature will still be accurate to 1 degree if you forget to take the cover off.There nothing that I do not like about this so far. It is meeting all of my needs. I use this every day because I make homemade yogurt.

I was a little hesitant to buy such an inexpensive thermometer, but in the end this was exactly what I was looking for. Compact & accurate.

Easy to use and accurate tempature reader.

The thermometer is quite accurate. it's a good product. although the delivery period is really long as mine took almost 48 days to arrive.

I bought this back in 2017 it's now January 2023 and still works perfectly havent even had to replace the battery yet
