Vaska is now out to conquer your dirty dishes with their NEW dishwasher detergent tablets. Vaska's proprietary tablets are made without the plastic shrink-wrap found on traditional dishwasher tablets. No shrink wrap means no toxic solvents, no sticky messes, and dissolves 100%.

Liking this not-easy-to-find product a lot
Having lived without an automatic dishwasher for more years than I care to say, when I got one I automatically picked up the strongest version of Cascade (Platinum) I found.Oh, lord! The first time the steam hit me in the face all I could think of was "caustic". And my dishes reeked of the stuff.Cleaning requires FRICTION. Without a human hand to wield a sponge or cloth or whatever, machines must rely heavily on water pressure and abrasive substances. I choose to use the most innocuous substance I can.The ingredients in Vaska dishwasher detergent are pretty innocuous. It smells good without stinking up my dishes and it works well - well enough for us anyway. We don't have one of those new American style dishwashers with what is basically a garbage disposal. That's something else to tear up and it makes automatic dishwashers seem even more disgusting. (Anyone who has ever taken one apart - or dealt with a rarely used or poorly maintained/installed jetted tub - knows what I mean.) My point: we DO pre-rinse.For comparison sake, I tried Method Smarty Dish (grapefruit), which worked as well but didn't smell as good (and, unless I'm mistaken, doesn't get a great score from EWG). I also tried HomeSolv (by CitruSolv, whose flagship product I love) and another one with very similar packaging). Neither was acceptable. For the record, we have an older Whirlpool Quiet Partner II. We did have a water softener but had it removed because we hate "slick" water. At that time, we had a whole house iron/sulfur filter installed. Our water was rated "moderately hard" but doesn't act all that scaly, especially now. Maybe the filter helps? At any rate, the Vaska worked just as well without the water softener as with.I DO use a rinse aid. For that, I am using LemiShine. I tried Seventh Generation but it didn't seem to work as well or last as long.

Another great Vaska product!
LOVE Vaska liquid laundry detergent and this one is no exception. Unlike the Vaska laundry tablets, which didn't dissolve well in our machine (maybe a Miele issue?), these uniquely shaped tablets completely dissolved and cleaned everything perfectly, leaving even the wine glasses spotless. Because they are made of powder, they don't leak or leave a gross redsidue. The fragrance is pleasant and not over powering, and I love the idea of not using harsh chemicals that aren't good for my family or the environment. Complete win Vaska! Keep the new products coming & expand distribution please!

Fragrance Way too strong & leaves grit behind
DOE'S NOT DO THAT GREAT OF A JOB, LEAVES RESIDUE & EVEN WITH AN EXTRA JUST WATER WASH TO REMOVE EXCESS FRAGRANCE & RESIDUE DISHES STILL REAK OF EXCESS FRAGRANCE NEED TO BE RINSED MANUALLY BEFORE EATING FROM.

Updated review
Not as bad if you put tablet in bottom of dishwasher and NOT in detergent holder!
