Bene CasaChrome Splatter Shield

What is the one thing that a splatter shield is intended to do? Sit on top of hot things and diffuse spatter. It diffuses spatter sufficiently, but sitting on top of hot things is apparently an insurmountable challenge. Within the first use or two, all of these shields warped, burned and/or discolored from the heat of the frying pan. That, to me, is a fundamental and fatal flaw.

Started to rust after the 2nd time in the dishwasher. I bought it because of the 3 sizes and as well because of the handles. Have a similar one from Ikea (no handle) which I put already more than 10 times in the dishwasher and no rust at all.

They rust!
