RösleStainless Steel Universal Knife, 9-inch

I am really sorry, I (my husband) have tried to use this slicer on so many fruits/vegetables AND it just does NOT work! The blades are very, very sharp and very close together so you would think it would slice and dice but it will not push down at all. I should have returned it but I kept thinking I would find something to use it on. Maybe cheese?

I tried this out on a fresh, firm tomato. All it did was smash the tomato between the two halves of the unit until the cutter was almost to the base unit. Then it did cut the tomato. I even tried "rocking" the steel blade portion of the unit slightly in hopes that the blades would begin to cut, but that did not work.

I have been looking for a slicer that could handle slicing mushrooms as well as eggs, etc. Wires are not reliable, and I had been using a plastic slicer with metal blades. Unfortunately, my old slicer would catch the plastic sides and I would get plastic shards in my mushrooms. It took me a while to find this one from Rosle, but I am so happy I did. What a wonderful slicer. Very sturdy and sharp - by design the blades should not ever touch the guides during slicing. I sliced through my mushrooms with ease. Cleanup was simple with a dishwashing brush. What a bonus that the slicer is big enough to slice tomatoes and mozzarella too! I look forward to trying it on vegetables. Its pricier than other versions but it is definitely worth it.

Rösle designs quality products and this tomato slicer functions perfectly. Thus far, I've had no issues cutting 1/4" slices of ripe or green tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. I wash and dry by hand and use a tooth brush if necessary to clean the serrated teeth. Keeping the blades clean, dry and stored properly has kept the blades razor sharp.

VERY well made. Most things out of Germany are!When slicing mozzarella cheese - - the grooves in the black plastic bottom get full of cheese. But it's very shallow.I used small Roma tomatoes for my Capris (sp) salad. And it sliced them very nicely.Rinsed it off and put it in the dishwasher. It came out nice and clean.

Blades are not sharp. Takes tremendous pressure on handles to force thru onions. Tomatoes are mashed. Probably would do well on eggs and strawberries.

The Rosle tomato and (fresh only) mozzarella slicer quickly makes perfect slices that will surely impress your guests! Like other Rosle products this is superbly made. The slicer which really does work great on tomatoes along with the softer fresh mozzarella is handy for BLT sandwiches or hamburgers.I strugged for years slicing fresh mozzarella with less than perfect results and this product delivers! I also was amazed to find it on Amazon and to get it in only 2 days since this past year, I had searched high and low after reading about it on the Rosle web page and none of the stores had it in stock or on line or else their web site stated it was available but it wasn't when I called. I now check Amazon first when I want something-hey it seems like yesterday when they just carried books.If you enjoy Caprese salad as much as I do you won't be dissapointed. Just remember not to let other people use it to slice regular, hard mozzarella or it may break-fresh mozzarella and tomatoes only-well, I suppose hard boiled eggs would also work.

I read some of the negative reviews for this slicer and decided to try it anyway and I'm glad I did. I have gotten the wire slicers in the past and they always break. It drives me crazy. This one will slice through many things. You kind of have to think of it like a serrated knife. If you use that sawing motion it works well. I've been slicing olives and strawberries and it works terrific. What I really like is that it won't break on something as simple as mushrooms.

I got this for chopping blocks of mozzarella into slices for pizza...its fine on the softer cheese but really hard work with the harder stuff. It clogs up and is difficult to clean.Good with big tomatoes just make sure they are firm or you'll just squash them.

Does its job quite reliably and easily. Better on tomatoes than mozzarella - tends to squash the cheese before it cuts through. Unfortunately does not slice peeled tomatoes either but that I did not expect anyway. However, as a tomato slicer it is a great help and saves a lot of time and hassle, especially with leaking tomatoe juice on/over the cutting board.

Das Produkt hat mein Home Test bestanden. Er schneidet bzw drückt wunderbar Tomaten und Mozzarella, sicher noch anderes, das habe ich aber noch nicht getestet. Wie man sieht sind keine scharfen Klingen, sondern sowas wie ein Sägeblatt dran. Man muss mit ein wenig Kraft links rechts runter drücken, dabei kam es aber nicht wirklich zu einer Quetschung meiner Tomate oder Mozzarella, siehe Bild! Für mich ist dieses Produkt eine große Abhilfe in der Küche bei kleinen Salaten oder eben den Vegetarischen Snack für zwischendurch. Das Edelstahl, sowie das Plastik weisen gute Qualität auf und machen einen hochwirksamen Eindruck. Ich kann ihn ganz klar weiterempfehlen.

We have been looking for a tomato slicer for a while we saw this one on the computer we both said this is what we want we are very pleased with it but i must say that you have to watch when you are drying it for it is very sharp

This is a good tomato slicer (my first). The serrated blade cut the tomatoes quite well even if the tomato is ripe.
