Definitely a good beginners book with learning words and short phrases. This book helps you ask questions and to have small talk conversations.If you are wanting to learn how to talk in longer sentences or write in Latvian this would not be the book you are looking for

I used this about 4 years ago, so I don't know if there's something better on the market now. But for me, this was very useful to start learning the language before I moved to Albania. I found an Apple app that gave the audio and let you quiz yourself and everything. I just listened to a new lesson on loop while I did other things, and it really stuck.

Sveiki! I purchased a class set for the Latvian heritage class I teach to campers up in the Catskill Mountains in New York. The kids enjoy using the book, so much so that they said that they want to buy one for home. So I am giving them the information to take home with them. Some of the counselors even asked me where I had purchased such a great learning tool and for under ten dollars! A must for any Latvian household!

This is excellent for pronunciation when coupled with the online--and free!--online tutorial. Well paced and very good to encourage the utterly new learner. The audio is invaluable to learn to speak correctly.

This is very good - now if I could just get it to stay in my head.

The book is a good companion to Goethe Verlag's free downloadable audio files in the language. I would recommend it to all whose learning style, like mine, means that they need to see things in print as an aid to learning - I would have difficulty committing phrases to memory without the text. What I personally would have liked is a little more in the way of grammatical explanations, which I'll pursue with further study; but this book [with the downloaded audio files] has provided a really good introduction to the language.

The book looks easy to learn, but there is no explanation how to pronounce each words.

This book is fantastic I have many books and apps and actually spent a lot of money on these items, but none of them come close to this book. Fabulous
