I bought these for the visual appeal as opposed to depending on them as my main speakers, since I already have pretty decent computer speakers with a subwoofer. That being said, I tested them on their own first and they actually have okay sound! Not much bass, as to be expected with small speakers, but definitely not cheap sounding.The visual effects are great. People comment on them all the time about how cool they are. Some things to keep in mind are that they are USB powered, and the lights are on unless you unplug them. There is not an external switch to turn the speaker lights on and off. The other thing is that there is no external volume control on the speakers, they go with the volume your laptop or phone is set to. They did, however, seem to work fine when I plugged them into my phone, which I was kind of worried about. Came quickly also and packaging was in good shape.

Bought these for my girlfriend and they are exactly what I expected! Very nice effect and works very well. Recommend these for anybody looking to add some eye candy to their laptop. They aren't sound activated, but run off usb port and dance to music so you don't have to worry about background sounds disturbing the effect. They also give a nice liquid effect to the ceiling at night.

I got these in today for a gift to give for Christmas. I tried them out to make sure that they worked and they exceeded my expectations! After reading all the reviews i was a little worried but they are great! The sound is pretty good for the size of them! I think they are much louder than the speaker on your phone! Great buy! Going back for more!

The plug in has retracted inside the speaker one one of these. My daughter lived them up until this point. This was not long after she got them.

Lights are cool, sound is not. Got them for my daughter and she has them hooked up to her book shelf stereo just for the lights.

These speakers far surpassed my expectations! They were a gift for my 12 year old niece. They sounded great, worked great, and are a lot of fun. After she got them hooked up, 4 of us sat mesmerized on the floor watching them. It was fun to see how they "reacted" to different kinds of music!

Bad sound for the price! They are no louder then a cell phone on full volume. spend your money on good speakers for $40!

I bought these speakers for my daughter for Christmas. She was very excited to use them and was extremely disappointed to find out that the fountain part did not work. There was only about a tablespoon of water in them.
