Pedal does what you expect
When I first saw this pedal online - the description "suggested" you could acheive classic blues rock Tone. It fits well with my set up. Highly recommended!

The classic fuzz!
Faithfully replicates that wonderful late 60s fuzz. Sounds fantastic. Don't spend the 285 for that other pedal. This is the one for Zep! Long live rock!

Great fuzz tones. Very good late 60's early 70's feel. Needs special power supply. Very happy.

Great pedal, but it's unpredictable
I bought this in search of that Page / Beck / Ronson fuzz sound, and it achieves all of that and more. However, I think because of the nature of its components, it's naturally a little unpredictable. It seems like the temperature and other factors influence its performance. When I first tried it with a fresh battery, it was loud, clear and responsive. When I took out the battery and plugged it in (it requires a positive center pin plug), I noticed a bit of volume drop. Some days, it seems to be muddier than usual for no discernible reason other than the weather. However, on the right days I haven't played a pedal this good. It stacks very well with amp distortion and other pedals, be it overdrive, flanger or phaser. It has a great amount of sustain and if you peel back the volume knob on your guitar, I wouldn't say it cleans up well but you certainly get other great fuzz tones that way. You can dial in the sound of an overloaded soundboard (amp-less) distortion as well, which is great if you're going for certain Zeppelin tones.I would recommend using it with another overdrive sound if you're going for a late '60s/early '70s rock tone. It doesn't really crunch well on its own. I would characterize it specifically as a fuzz, not so much an overdrive or distortion as advertised.

Not perfect, but diverse.
I bought quite a few Fulltone pedals back in the day, and this thing will get you that early zeppelin and cream vibe. All the Fulltone pedals I had, need to have the input jack replace so make sure you know a technician. This thing really is subject to atmosphere. I was always dialing in the tone and it is diverse. Most people like that. I like that sweet spot. I guess the germanium transisters are what they say, but maybe it isn't for everyone. I donated it and bought a Brit Bender on recommendation from Prymaxe. Another costly but ideal Tone Bender of sorts.

A Must Have
The combanation of fuzz and distortion makes this a very unique pedal. Its warm tonal qualities bring out the best in sound depending on what amp you are useing. As of now I use a Tech 21 Trademark 60 and the tones are sweet and violin like. Love this pedal, waited a long time for it to arrive once again in the market place. Been playing 35 years now and their is not a better fuzz pedal then the Soul Bender by Fulltone.
