Are they large enough to use a sharpie on to write numbers?

Sure, if you write them really small with the fine tip sharpie. They are about half the size of a dime. I'll add a pic if I can

A little smaller than the size of a dime. About a 1/4 inch in height.

How bid are they? .5'?

They are very little magnets. 2cm diameter. If you want to use them for presentation they will not be useful.
