Bright light, small size very user-friendly
Have owned many Kerosene lambs over the past 50 years. This is one of the better. I like the style dimensions quality of material and ease of use. Highly recommended for outside light and emergency use.

THUMBS UP FOR FEUERHAND !
Originally ordered a Dietz # 8 Air Pilot lantern and was very disappointed in the quality. The lantern had tiny dents, scratched paint, torn Dietz label on front of lantern, not completely painted, assembly of top was not completed and the spring for the lifting mechanism of the globe was so stiff I could hardly move it. I gave the Chinese crap a chance and they came in last ! Should have known better. So, then I ordered the German made Baby Special 276 Hurricane Lamp and received it through Amazon in less than 8 hours ! What a difference in quality ! A beautiful little lantern that works perfectly and exhibits nice workmanship with good detail. I got the natural unpainted metal lamp and I really like the bare metal finish. Bravo to the Germans ! Wish they still made other models but the 276 is the only offering. Would definitely buy again, maybe a gorgeous Moss Green next time . They have many nice colors to pick from.

High quality
Lantern is well made, sturdy, durable, easy to operate. Easy to maintain. Nice size small enough to pack for camping and large enough to burn citronella lamp oil effectively deterring mosquitoes and other insects. Does not leak around base seal.

A little pricey. I like it.
When buying my first kerosene wick lantern, I read that these are superior to Dietz, but I also read that they aren't that much better. So I went with a Dietz and then Rayo. Eventually I liked these lanterns enough to want to spring for one of these Fuererhand (every time I spell it differently). I wish they had brass accent option, but I chose the galvanized (plain silver?) unpainted which was less expensive and has a utilitarian charm. My larger Rayo has developed a very slow, seeping leak at the bottom crimp. My smaller Rayos needed cork gaskets to replace the rubber which swelled oversize and wouldn't fit back into the fill cap. My Dietz is doing okay, but I think Dietz gets away with premium prices for Chinese lanterns based on their name fame. I think this Feuerhand is fairly priced. Like German cars, it may be better quality, but it may not be the best choice for every person with different needs and different budgets, and it will still be subject to imperfections. I would not say it's built like a tank or anything (it's not the "Mercedes-Benz" of lanterns), but I expect it will outlast and outvalue my others, and if I need any more, I will buy Furhand again rather than more Rayo or Dietz. Maybe this is the Volkswagen of lanterns (and I mean the old Beetle).
