Dead Leaves - DVD

Great movie. Nice quality, good price, and since it’s on dvd, you can own it, and watch it whenever, a good physical copy! Came in great time. Interesting art style, pretty cool.

Wild and crazy story and animation!

There's not much to say about this anime. You look at the cover of the DVD and think "Yeah, that's some nice artwork" the actual film doesn't look like that. The colors are bright and the backgrounds are a little sloppy, but fear not because it doesn't ruin anything or cause annoying headaches. The whole film runs smoothly. Now, if you're expecting some glorious story line this film isn't for you. Yes it poses questions, but most animes do. The story is confusing and not too clear. Now the humor is what makes this film get a 5 star in my book. If you like twisted sex, blood, and poop jokes, then this film is perfect for you. For example, I think the only thing that doesn't bleed in this anime is the train; everything else bleeds like crazy. There are a lot of jokes and comments that will have you thinking "Oh, F****." Look it is possible that you'll watch it and never be able to decide whether you like it or hate it (I had the hardest time making up my mind). If you are a sensitive viewer and say things like "That's impossible" or "Stupid, that doesn't make sense." Then DO NOT watch this film! Otherwise this film is great for a laughs and to show off in your anime collection. THIS FILM IS RECOMMENDED IF YOUR SENSE OF HUMORS A LITTLE TWISTED & DIRTY!

you know the new wave of american animated tv shows like courage the cowardly dog,dexter laboratory and i am weasel.well ,this film has a similar character design.it disappointed me at first but thankfuly the anime style of directing,adolescence sense of humor,silly nudity and off the wall violence are still here.the story is a bout two runaway amensia cases .a female with a panda make up on,pandy.and a tv headed male,retro.who in their search for their past run havoc across town,get arrested and sent to the deformed clones prison on the moon,dead leaves.and once they arrive there ,they continue their chaotic mayhem ride.helped by a line up of the weirdest characters i ever saw in an anime film ,so far.its violent,fast, has a weak story,alot of mayhem fun and R rated.even the dvd extras are R rated.where we see the director hiroyuki imaishi advising getting drunk before watching his film, if we want to really enjoy it.there are also a directer's commentary,festival interviews, truth or doubt game with some of the cast and the recording session.and yes ladies and gentlemen,it does remind you of FLCL.but is it that good? not really.alot of fun? definitely.a poster of the film is included in this dvd.on it's back there is a drawing of a police line up of some of dead leave's inmates.understandably chinko drillo is not there.

So many people i know who are way into anime have never laid eyes upon this amazing piece of cinema. That to me is a HUGE travesty. I first witnessed this gloriuos film while waiting for a Gwar show - it was playing on the in-house tv system, and I was lucky enough to have caught the name of the flick before the scumdogs took the stage. I bought a VHS copy (my first of 3) the very next day! This movie is just balls-out from the word go. It's frenetic, seizure-inducing at times, and the story makes perfectly NO sense at all until you've watched the movie a few times, but damn if it isn't one of the best damn anime films I have ever seen! Pandy and Retro are two of the best characters I have ever seen...I wish they would revisit this universe and create more adventures starring these two. Until such time, I have my dvd, and will watch it repeatedly, and with relish!

I used to watch this on Netflix pretty frequently when I first got with my boyfriend three years ago. I tried to introduce the movie to everyone I knew because it's just so chaotic and interesting. I never got sick of watching it. When I found out they removed it from Netflix, I was absolutely heartbroken, so my boyfriend decided to surprise me by buying it for me for my 22nd birthday. I was ecstatic. The DVD came quick, works well, and I'm so happy to finally have a physical copy so that I can continue to show this movie off throughout the years.

Dead Leaves is an insane thrill ride of violence, sex and dirty jokes. I would suggest that most everyone involved in creating this masterpiece of madness might be well-versed with hallucinogenics. Forget deep plots and morals, DL has just enough story to set up the next insane sight gag, sex joke or event of ultraviolence. That said I loved it. The animation is fast and crisp looking. The voice actors are great and bring life to some really weird characters.
