Gaelic Storm steps back into the ring with Chicken Boxer, their ninth album and fifth independent release on their own label Lost Again Records. Following two consecutive #1 albums on the Billboard World Music Chart, Chicken Boxer showcases the incomparable songwriting and accomplished musicianship of a band that has made their mark bringing fans to their feet two hundred days per year. With their signature acoustic production, Gaelic Storm blends indie-folk and world grooves with Celtic tradition to serve up a ringside seat for fifteen rounds of pugilistic poultry pounding sound.

One of the best from one of the best!
I've been a Gaelic Storm fan since they were a little pub band in Santa Monica. Over the years, I've gotten each of their albums. After worrying that maybe the band was in decline, Chicken Boxer was a joyous treat. The first track is easily the weakest on the album, so don't get discouraged. The Bear and the Butcher Boy is one of GS's classic story tunes that will have you singing along in no time (ranking right up there with Johnny Tarr stories and the story of the snails). Cunla has become an instant family favorite we sing with our daughter. My Lucky Day is full of joy. And we've all met the guy from Alligator Arms, right? Trust me - this album is great. It's got plenty of good danceable Irish music, fun stories, and all of the great stuff that makes me buy tickets every time the band comes anywhere near here.

Fun music
This album is mostly fun music, maybe not their best but is generous with 16 tracks and well worth picking up. The 1st half is upbeat and the second tends to be slower; almost feels like two albums that you could choose from depending on mood. It is nice to hear an album with mostly happy songs with positive messages or stories unlike much of whats on the radio.

Great collection of songs
Great collection of songs! The CD itself would get 5 stars (I personally think it is their best album alongside What's the Rumpus) and there are plenty of great songs to sing along to.Why is it only 4 stars then? The CD case was falling apart when I got it. The inside was breaking allowing the CD to float around ( I was lucky it wasn't scratched), and the over was falling off. I will get a new case for it and then it will be perfect. Definitely recommend this CD!

Great CD!
Gaelic Storm are a great Celtic band. You have to see them live - I've done it twice now and wouldn't hesitate to see them again! Very fun, infectious tunes done by a very entertaining and lively band. If you can't see them live - this is the next best thing. Check out all of their other CD's as well - you won't be disappointed.

Great band!
I had never heard of this band and so I downloaded a free song from Amazon from the album called Bring the Wellies and was immediately hooked. Chicken Boxer is a great album full of folk tunes and Irish flavor. If you are looking for a great blend of old Irish music and modern rock, this is for you.

Another wonderful album by Gaelic Storm
Another wonderful album by Gaelic Storm. The traditional songs are carried out with the band's usual verve and gusto, and the original songs display their cleverness and sense or humor. It always makes me dance a bit inside.
