Got what I asked for.
I was told by a friend a cheap and easy way to get an introduction to VR was to get a Google Cardboard headset. I picked this particular unit somewhat at random. It was about in the middle of the price range for similar products. My immediate impression is that this was a used product. The unit itself was somewhat beat up and parts of it looked like adhesive tape had been applied and removed. Admittedly the shipping envelope was slightly torn. The damage may have occurred during shipping and besides it was cosmetic.Set was straight forward once I realized you have to slide it out of it's storage box, like an old style box of kitchen matches. This wasn't part of the three-step set up drawing. I haven't attached the head strap yet but according to the YouTube video I watched it looks to be straight forward.I downloaded the cardboard app through Google Play store. Setup involved scanning the code printed on the side of the headset and I was off.So far everything seems to be working. I wasn't exactly blown away by anything but I was looking for a cheap introduction to VR and that's exactly what I got.
