Fear, Changes and Conclusions
Laurel Wright, her twin brother Hudson and their mother live in a poorer area in London quite happily. All three of them worked hard, but when their mother fell ill, things began to be difficult. Laurel was good with numbers and both worked and acted as bookkeeper in a chandlers shop, while Hudson also worked two jobs. It's when a local "businessman" known for his illegal work practices buys her employer out, wanting to keep her on, while "looking after" him in the evening . On telling her that he would see her brother punished for no reason, Laurel is worried. Shortly afterwards Laurel and Hudson loss their mother. While going through their mother's belongings, Laurel finds a note identifying their father. Desperate enough to protect them both, Laurel visits the man who is their half brother. She is surprised by how she is treated by her new family. Both she and Hudson are quickly accepted as family and their lives change. There are some problems to overcome, plus threats, including marriage and the mystery of her husband's childhood and all ends well.

Another winner; Aston at her best!!
Wow absolutely loved this, enthralled from page one.Defending the Duke is full of passion, dissimulation, wit, heated longing and an absorbing love that is desperately needed to overcome vulnerability, tormented histories and a deepset need the hero has to protect himself from the fear that if he wholeheartedly risks needing another it could result in nothing but crippling pain and utter devastation, especially if that said love turns out to be unrequited or worse - lost! And just in case this is not enough for Anthony and Laurel to cope with their journey seems cloaked by scandal and an imminent threat that could either find their fragile beginning ripped asudder or finally crumple all their barriers and bring them irresistibly and inseparably together.Overall a delicious romance that pits a soul-deep connection and internal strength against inner demons and greed. Allowing the hero and heroine to radiate from the page and the principal subcharacters to highlight just how strong family bonds are. There simply hasn't been a part of this series that hasn't made me cry, smile and swoon - Anthony and Laurel's journey has been no different.Truly loved this!! Can't wait for Hudson's story, Laurel's twin and the newest member of the delectably charismatic St Clair family.

Great read
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💋💋Adorable and beautiful, I love this story !It’s a story of survival, surprises and hope .A beautiful soul of a woman and a damaged soul of a man , coming together and creating a family. If you’ve read the others in the series, you’ll know that the St Claires are not just a family they are a dynasty in the making. They believe in love matches , in being together for the right reasons not for gain.I loved seeing how they accepted their new family members , how they were instantly protective and set them up to succeed. The hero is so damaged and I will admit that Alexa brought me to tears , with his story .His fathers influence in his life was nothing but damaging, and his only love from an aunt. When he meets his lady he doesn’t want to or know how to love , and they need to work together to help each other .A great story and one that’s really hard to put down , consequently I was reading till 2:30 am , thx Alexa .Honestly I loved the book , it was no hardship to give up sleep .I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

I like this author, she describes well and has the ability to make you think your watching a film your travelling in carriages and going into shops. You can almost feel what the material the dresses are made of. Well done
