Clear, practical advice for board members and anyone harbouring aspirations
A clear, practical overview of the role and responsibilities of a board.Behind Closed Doors is engaging and accessible, with plenty of behind-the-scenes anecdotes. Laffin has served on the Boards of Northern Rock, Flybe and Aegis Group, to name a few. He brings all of these experiences to bear.Equally suited to those who have crossed the threshold, as well as for those who want a seat at the table.Highly recommend.

Vital for any aspiring NED, and valuable for any current NED
This is, in my opinion, a really good and valuable book for anyone thinking about stepping onto a Board. Insightful, valuable comment from someone who has been there and done it with bells on. All the things people will tell you and the same again of things that no one will tell you, wrapped up with a lot of practical advice and comment.

Everything you need to know about boards and a good read too
This is different to any other book I've seen about company boards. You really get the feel of the boardroom, with candid and honest comments, anecdotes and some great tips. Who'd have thought that a book about boards would be such an enjoyable read? Anyone who is on a board, or wants to be, or is just interested in company boards should read this.

Informative, clear and surprisingly entertaining
An interesting book covering all aspects of the boardroom. A suprisingly light read for what might be thought of as a dry subject. The author enlivens the text with examples and anecdotes to back up the theoretical and legal points being covered
