Bright until it goes off...
3 settings (off, on, auto) It auto turns itself off, but it never comes back on. Bright enough but without the auto on feature, its kind of a bust for us.Revised: So the seller contacted me and we tried to troubleshoot the light and they ended up sending me a new one. I am happy to report this thing works like a champ, exactly as expected and just what I was looking for. It is super bright and comes on and goes off just as expected. I tested it many times and it works great. If you are looking for a motion LED that runs on 4 AAA batteries that can hang from just about anywhere, this may be the light for you. Excellent customer service I might add....UPDATE - had this light working for a several weeks now and it works like a champ. We must have gotten a bad one the first time around but the customer service quickly replaced it. This light is exactly what we needed.

Nice light for a closet or pantry!
I was very excited about this item when I took it out of the box. It appeared to be well constructed. Because of its weight (with 6 AAA batteries,) I chose to affix the two mounting brackets with the provided screws vs double-sided tape. Simple enough - two screws and the fixture snapped in firmly as I hoped. There are 3 settings on the tiny slide switch on the end of the fixture that allow off/on/motion. It was daylight at the time and the motion sensor was acting unpredictable. At this point, I decided to wait until dark and see if it would function properly. It really didn't. It would come on randomly. Worst part was that it would often come on when I was shutting the door, not opening it, even after spending 20 minutes simulating every type of motion activity you could think of. All night long it would start strobing randomly until I finally turned it off. My dogs HATED it.I tried to exchange it through amazon but the only option was to return it and re-order it. I contacted Amazon customer service about exchanging the defective item and they just refunded my money. Since it was purchased as a lightning deal last week, the price to replace it is 30% more. I think I'm going to take another route. I'll update my review if I decide to re-order.Again, it really looked like a well constructed product. The light was bright and harsh but almost perfect for a dark food pantry. The instructions were written in broken English but simple enough. I wish it had worked.Updated on 3/17/2017: Without contacting the supplier, I received an email from them offering to send out a replacement along with some advisement on how the motion/light sensor was supposed to function. I still believe the sensor to be defective but at this point, can't complain about their customer service.Update 4/1/2017 - a week or so later, I received my replacement light. Put the batteries in and snapped it into the already installed brackets. It works perfectly. Very bright. Sensor works exactly how it should. They may have some QC issues but if you get a bad one, they will make good. I love it! My attached picture was taken in a pantry with 9' ceiling in a completely dark room. Very effective!Update 4/27/2017 - It's been going for 4 weeks. It works great. Bright, reliable and predictable.

Junk
This product is probably the biggest disappointment I've ever purchased. First, I could only fit 5 batteries in, but it left about 1cm of space, so no light. Then I tried taking it apart to see if I was missing something and then a rechargeable battery came out that some other consumer must have put in there and then returned it. Once I removed that battery, I put my batteries in there (still left space, so no connection), I fixed it so the batteries would be connected properly and it still didn't light. Don't buy it and waste your money. They just sent me a defective light that someone else returned.

Great to keep the kids from turning on and leaving ...
Bought one light to use in a windowless laundry room (6'x10'). Mounted it with Velcro (it comes with screw-in mounts but I chose not to use them) to the wall next to the overhead light switch so it comes on as soon as you walk through the doorway. Now, when someone goes in to grab something the led lights come on and provide plenty enough light to look around and find something. It is significantly brighter than an average nightlight but not nearly as much as the overheads. Great to keep the kids from turning on and leaving on the overheads, which mine are prone to do. If this will be your only light source in a closet or small room, you will need more than one. The light goes out quickly when it no longer senses motion, an important consideration when choosing placement.
