In general, the sizing on dog shirts seems to be way off and this one was no exception. I have a 60 pound boxer who recently had surgery. Rather than making him wear the cone, I thought a shirt would be more comfortable for him. I was able to get this shirt over his head, but that's about it. I imagine the XXL is more appropriately sized for a 40 pound dog.
