THIS IS THE BOOK TO BUY!!! Do it.
I hit a plateau in my bass playing for years after only learning the major, minor, and pentatonic scales. For some reason the idea of chord tones was flying right over my head. I’ve tried several much bigger (and much more expensive) books and all of them might as well have been written in hieroglyphics. Reading comprehension is a struggle of mine, but also I think many authors who are experts on the subject they are writing about have trouble explaining it to oblivious readers.Chad makes no assumptions about the readers prior knowledge, and he also doesn’t go out of his way to muddle the information with over explanations. He ONLY conveys exactly what is necessary to understand a given topic. No more, no less. (With a few side notes of encouragement, and assurance). This book just makes sense, man. I very strongly recommend it to any bassist who’s struggling as I have. For a long time I’ve thought about giving up on books, and just forking over hundreds of dollars in lessons. But now, after working through this book, I’m confident I can go back and work through the other, denser books that I tried before and get more out of them.Honestly, if you’re a beginner or if you’re stuck in a technical rut as I was, THIS IS THE BOOK TO BUY!

Excellent
Excellent book, awesome if you've mastered or have a good handle of music theory, and mastery of the fret board.

Teaches new spins on old concepts
It goes over scales, arpeggios, chords. Won't make you a Bass God overnight but will show you more ways to play a scale than just first position.Really great for beginners as it shows you not only tab but fret markings and gives overview on reading sheet music.

Definitely a great buy.
Bought this for a Christmas present for my boyfriend who is an up and coming bassist. He found this book rather simple to understand, and also incredibly helpful when it comes to learning more about finger placement, how to play scales and arpeggios, and basic music theory. This is a somewhat rudimentary book for any student of the game, but I believe it to be practical and essential for those who are willing to learn more about their bass. Definitely a great buy.

What’s up with the pricing of this book?
So why does the back of the book say that it’s price is $9.99 and the audio is $10....And “parts are not sold separately”.....and I paid $14.66 and did not receive audio?????

Excellent book
This book and "All About Bass" by the same author are easily two of the best books on learning bass out there. I have been playing and learning for nearly 4 years now and every learning bit I have wanted to know is usually found in one or both of these books. Very strong particularly on explaining Music Theory.Money well spent.

Ótimo livro
Muito bom. Fala sobre progressões de acordes, quais modos ou escalas utilizar, quando usar uma ou outra. Bem prático, e com playbacks legais.

Good to learn and understand what you play
A lot of information easily explained. I’m on chapter 2 so far and I have learned a lots. Sometimes we just learn songs without actually knowing the key, this books helps you improve your understanding.
