The only artist to ever achieve #1 albums in SIX consecutives decades, Barbra Streisand’s Release Me 2 is yet another musical gem in her unparalleled career. The follow-up to her acclaimed 2012 album, Release Me, this new collection contains previously unreleased tracks from Barbra’s vault, including duets with Willie Nelson and Kermit the Frog. With songs by Burt Bacharach, Hal David, Barry Gibb, Paul Williams, Randy Newman, Michel Legrand and Alan & Marilyn Bergman, Harold Arlen, and Carole King, Barbra describes Release Me 2 as, “A lovely walk down memory lane…a chance to revisit, and in some cases, add a finishing instrumental touch to songs that still resonate for me in meaningful ways.”Track listingSide A1. An eclectic collecton
A collection of odds and sods which works, who would think that a duet with Kermit would be so moving.

STREISAND DOESNT DISAPPOINT AGAIN
ANOTHER YEAR AND ITS 3 YEARS SINCE BARBRA'S LAST OUTING AND WE GET RELEASE ME #2 AND ITS A VERITABLE SMORGASBORG OF DELIGHTS HERE FROM WAY BACK THAT DIDNT MAKE THE CUT AND SOME HAVE REMARKABLY NOT AGED AND STILL CURRENT FOR TODAYS ISSUES THAT PEOPLE FACE OTHERS WHIMSICAL BUT THE QUALITY IS STILL THERE AND IT SHOWS THAT HER "TEAM" DONT DISAPPOINT IN CREATING THE BEST THAT CAN BE WITH THE MATERIAL FROM YESTERYEAR . IJUST WISH THERE WERE MORE TRACKS AND INCLUDED REMIXES ALREADY HEARD ON YOU TUBE PLUS EXTRAS IF BOUGHT FROM US "TARGET STORES" AS THE EXTORTINATE PRICES PRECLUDE HER FANS AFFORDING THE IMPORT PRICES ANY WAY SUFFICE TO SAY THE ALBUM IS WELL TURNED OUT AND SHOWS BARBRA'S VOCALS DELIGHTFULLY WELL AND NEVER FALTERING

Just something about the voice that draws you in
Relatively new convert to Barbra's music. There is just something addictive about her voice and arrangements. Her younger voice is amazing. It can take a few listens to get into the album as you pick up on the clever subtle touches and unpredictable vocal plays. Makes a refreshing change from the over manufactured sounds of todays pop. To enjoy it you have to be open to putting a bit of effort into listen and appreciate the interpretation of the vocals and the meaning behind the lyrics. Also fell for the lovely coloured vinyl which is a bonus. Can't wait for Release Me 3!

It takes a few listening's.
Now I have listened to this album a few times I am really liking it much more than on first hearing. A few little gripes the main one is, I think Barbra was a bit stingy with the amount of tracks surely out of her vast collection she could have found 12 and not just10. Drop the track with Kermit and why not put the tracks in the order they were recorded It might flow a little better. To me the star of the album is the last track Once you've been in love, Barbra at her best. Overall not a bad album.

and somethings should stay locked away
I love her. Really. Always have. Loved the Release Me album. This one is meh...a mish mash of tracks from various points in her career, so you have 'young' Barbra, 'middle-age' Barbra etc. which tonally doesn't really gel. The actual sound quality of this LP is a bit harsh and empty if that makes sense? I haven't heard the CD version which may sound better. This is in the end a poor selection of songs - the one with Willie Nelson which 'playfully' namechecks each others big hits of yesterday - 'you'll always be my Funny Girl' etc. - falls flat on it's face. The 'duet' with Kermit. Well, there's a thing. It doesn't even sound like Kermit, and the lyric is like hearing melted sugar sing. The track with Barry Gibb? Well, it was written by him and his family, and is a nice tune. He just does 'bom bom bom' and sounds imbecilic doing it. The rest of the album is just so-so. No songs of great merit, nothing memorable nor any of a 'want to hear that again' quality.I'm glad I got this [and not the overpriced purple exclusive] and I'm glad I heard these tracks. However, Barbra should keep her vault well and truly sealed from now on if this is the calibre of content. If there is a Release Me 3 I hope the quality of the tracks is a whole lot better [and that they get the vinyl sounding a whole lot better too]. Overall - a disappointment. I do love the cover art though and the retro labels on the LP.

This release is a treasure not to be missed.
One Day Be Aware You Light Up My Life Rainbow Connection Right As The Rain I could go on to list EVERY track on Release Me 2 and to say that each one is so shockingly gorgeous that its impossible to believe any trolling negative mean spirited comments about these brillant Streisand performances. Seriously these tracks are simply amazing. I only hope Barbra will continue to share her vaults with those who deeply appreciate the obvious beauty of these performances and long waited for recordings. For my money Barbra Streisand at any age at any stage of her stunning recording career is simply the greatest singer of all time. Its not only the sound of her brillant voice its how she uses it, how she interprets the lyric, how she "acts" each song elevating it to perfection. Barbra please ignore any and all negative comments about your fantastic Release Me works of art. When I play your music from 1962 through 2022 all the recordings live performances lps soundtracks singles your ENTIRE catalog including Release Me and Release Me 2 I feel fed. Like I've been nourished by beauty imagination, stories, ideas, olympian feats of vocal perfection. STREISAND RULES. I was 12 the first time I heard Barbra sing. The song was I'm The Greatest Star. For me that is still true but the song could have been called I'm The Greatest Singer because she is. Moonfall, Make Our Garden Grow, and so many more are still in the vault and hopefully Barbra will share those soon. On Release Me 2 you have mutiple masterpiece level recordings like One Day, Be Aware and You Light Up My Life and Sweet Forgiveness. As with Release Me, Release Me 2 is brilliantly laid out and plays like a well curated program showing off so many elements of the Streisand genious. For me this is yet another treasure from Barbra's stunning recording career that I almost can't believe I have. This release along with Release Me 1, is absolutely a not to be missed collection of recording artistry.

Love love love
Ok, to be totally fair, I decided to read all the reviews prior to writing mine. Having said that….I can’t agree with any of the negative ones. Yes, some of the music is older and came from the vault of previously unreleased material but WOW….Barbras vocals are incredible on all of them. Before getting the CD I thought the “Rainbow Connection” duet with Kermit the frog would likely be my least favourite track….wow was I wrong. I absolutely love it! The entire CD is charming and beautiful and vocally untouchable as it’s Barbra. I highly recommend.
