Artillery Sidewinder X1 Extruder Kit All-in-one Single Extruder Replacement for Artillery Sidewinder X1 3D Printer

Hooked right up and works great!

If you have an aging SWX1 12 inch printer..... this is probably a wise purchase. As others have said. Out of the box these are not great – – they still need to be gone through converted to all metal hot ends and several other upgrades (better e3D pressure lever and drive gear recommended). Nonetheless, because of the rather proprietary design that these artillery units have it really is very handy to have a spare extruder unit to go on while another is down. Even if you threw one of these on stock – – you'll probably get more than a year of good service (before rebuild) out of it if you take care of it – – (and if you don't put a lot of hours on it and you also don't print high heat or high speed.) The SWX1 -- circa 2019 – – is looking like it might be one of the last easy to work on roller-based printers. Things are getting complicated with all of the super machines coming out. I appreciate an old-school machine that is easy to level by hand. It's really great that this is available -- to keep these going a few more years!

I read that the version 1 machine had a clear glass bed, so I thought I had a version 2 or later. I ordered this and had to made it work, so I guess I had a version 1 machine. In the first picture you see 4 mounting holes in the original extruder. In the next picture you see the new extruder with only 1 lower mounting hole. I removed the carriage and drilled and tapped a 3mm to accept the new extruder - the 2 upper holes were the same for both extruders. The next issue was the fan interfering not allowing the carriage to travel to the stop sensor. I used a vibrating saw tool to cut the corner away as you see in the next picture. It is my opinion that the new extruder was modified to make it cheaper and better. The heatsink under the cooling fan is cast as part of the plate it originally was screwed against. The mounting screws are much easier to access with a long TEE handle allen hex wrench. To remove the old extruder I ground away about half of the short arm of an allen hex key, so I could get to the mounting screws. I'm 3D printing right now and it's working just like it is supposed to.

Best printer I have

This was a used extruder. Burnt nozzle, filament still inside, broken ABL switch. Do not oder from this seller. Will order new one directly from Artillery.

A friend gave me his old Artillery X1 but advised it needed a new extruder. I found this and was excited to get the printer up and running, but was quickly disappointed when I learned I had to figure out the mounting screw size as this does not come with any hardware. Now I'm stuck waiting for ANOTHER shipment before I can begin working on fixing this printer.

I got the "heating failed, system stopped! heater_id: 0" error. My printer bed was heating properly but the extruder wasn't. I tried different methods of troubleshooting as posted in reddit, but none worked. Getting this unit was an easy replacement, can be done in less 2 minutes, and it worked properly.One thing to note this that once this unit is installed, the nozzle is about a millimeter higher than the original extruder, so I had to adjust and re-level the printer bed. Not a big deal. Been printing again without issues.

Everything will need recalibrated pretty much. Besides that it's perfect parts.

The media could not be loaded.  All in one hot end and extruder was well worth my money. Purchased for my tronxy project. As you can see from pics the bltouch tucked in nicely behind the hot end with a printed mount. Unit bolted on nicely after a few mods the the mounting bracket and utilized some of the pcb board for wiring. Really happy with the fact that this hotend heats up three times quicker then the stock tronxy hotend. All in all really happy with the product the price and arrived with one day shipping. Will definitely purchase again if need be.

Se me rompió el motor nema y compre el extrusor completo,lo que no usase me serviría de repuesto.Primer problema,el gatillo del tensor de filamento roto,segundo problema el motor nema atrancado,no giraba ,al apretar los tornillos lo habían apretado desigualmente y estaba torcido, desmontado y apretado bien volvió a girar.Y tercer problema el barrell esttaba suelto,se podía apretar con los dedos.Todo apretado y ajustado y volvió a funcionar , que es lo que me importaba. Lo que sucedió después con la reclamación ya es para escribir un libro aparte

Very easy install - unplug 1 x ribbon cable, take out 3 screws to release old unit then new one on again. Took10 minutes and the printer is up and running again. More expensive than the parts but so much easier if your not technically inclined. I have kept the old unit for spares so good value for money too.

Der Druckkopf ist komplett, passgenau und tut das , was er soll. Gibt nichts zu meckern.
