Never too much about garlic!
Robert Browning once wrote, "Less is more.”And, this book, “is there.”Wonderful chapter titles such as, “Mellow, Sunshine, Comfort,Fiery, Go Wild, and Celebratory,” sum up what each is about.Every chapter has a write up followed by the simplest, yettastiest, recipes possible. Measurements for both Europe andthe U.S. are included, as well as, substitutions for ingredients.Covered are forms of garlic, storage and preparation, healthbenefits, folklore, how to grow, those who do, and festivalsthat celebrate it.Attractively laid out, engaging, not overdone; has somethingfor everyone.

So flavorful!
I love how garlic has so many ways it can be expressed — from mellow to fiery — and this cookbook seems to encompass them all. There is an intro to the many kinds of garlic, followed by chapters of recipes with lots of variety. There is a great recipe for a mild hummus, and a fantastic traditional recipe for 40-clove garlic roasted chicken, which includes tarragon and lemon to brighten the delicious chicken and roasted garlic flavors. I suspect that the recipe for roast garlic labneh dip is the secret garlic sauce recipe from my favorite mid-east restaurant I’ve been searching years for (Surprise! It’s healthy!). There are quick and easy recipes like the spaghetti con aglio, olio & peperoncino — about 10 minutes from start to ready-to-eat. The recipes are taken from all over the world, like Malayasian shrimp, Korean bulgogi, spicy Indian meatballs, French salmon with garlic “en papillote,” a fantastic Spanish garlic soup, and a good ole garlicy American mac & cheese.

She's not a big fan of cooking but I know for sure she's going to love some of these recipes
I bought this as a gift for my garlic-loving friend. She's not a big fan of cooking but I know for sure she's going to love some of these recipes. It's a lovely book - great size with a really nice selection of recipes. Great photos too. What I really like is the nice description of each dish that comes before the recipe, always a helpful feature in a cookbook and not enough people seem to bother with that these days! A worthy addition to any bookshelf and one that I'm starting to think I should keep for myself!

Beau livre
