Landscape Collage Techniques: Impressionistic collage paintings, step-by-step

Gorgeous and inspiring!
This book is full of wonderful creative ideas for creating your own, original papers for collaging, mostly using a gel press. It features Elizabeth St. Hilaire's vibrant landscape collages, with lots of tips for how to create collages in her unique "painting" style. The author's enthusiasm is contagious. My copy came with the pages printed one-off, with all odd-numbered pages on the left instead of the right, so that e.g. text references to "the image on the right" require one to turn the page to see the image. This glitch, along with a sprinkling of minor editing errors and repetitions, were a bit distracting, but will hopefully be addressed in a future edition, if they haven't been already. Overall, a great resource for collage artists looking for new techniques and inspiration.

Not much to see, not worth the price.
I have all of St. Hilaire's books but most of them arent worth it. You'll see repetition (collages appear in several books) she's trying to stretch her work to make another book. I really don't need in depth instructions, if you want want to purchase a book, "Painted paper paintings" will show you everything needed to start you creating collages. And it's the most inexpensive. This book should contain much more for the price.

Don't waste your money!
I LOVE books and buy a fair amount of DIY and how-to art books and this is probably one of the worst books I've ever purchased. The first few pages are all about the authors travels ( that's nice but who really cares - yes we know inspiration comes from many different lovely places). She also makes sure we know we can purchase HER specially designed stencils and stamps. She is by no means humble. She spends a fair amount of time "bragging" about her art. This just totally turns me off. This book is not a "step by step" sharing of her process. They are very brief descriptions of the process. Then some descriptions of images are not even on the same page so one is left a bit confused trying to figure out what she is talking about. Then the book itself is cheap - the cover and the paper is thin, flimsy and not glossy like all the other books I've purchased for a lot less money. Also, the type inside is large and very spaced out so as to make a thicker book. On the positive side, I did purchase because her art is lovely and you may be inspired by some of her images.

Excellent resource for ideas and technique
I buy any instruction book this artist puts out. I've used her collage paper painting technique for years.

Disappointed at the quality of the inside pages.
In comparison to her book called “Painted Paper Art Workshop” this book appears dull. Her paintings are beautiful but the mat paper do not show the beauty of the paintings as much as the glossy pages in Art Workshop.
