12-53 (lights) would be standard for any guitar of this kind. If it lacks bass/low-end, use 12-56.  My preferences are towards thinly coated phosphor-bronze strings (Elixir nano, D’Addario, Cleartone, GHS) Because they shave your fingers & frets, reduce noise,  and are generally easier play.

Someone posted play music you could use mediums Because it has a truss rod, but he recommends 11- … This is absolutely false and ridiculous, demonstrating that the person who wrote it has no valid understanding Multi purpose of a truss rod.  Moreover, ALL Steel string guitars Made in the last 50 years have truss rods.

Thickness of the strings is a trade off. Thinner is easier to play but offers less volume and richness.  Twelve is widely considered to be minimum, so a beginner should allow a few days for the fingers to adjust rather than going thinner and compromising sound quality that much.  Mediums are generally for strumming and flatpicking on dreadnoughts, as a thicker string is also more stiff/inflexible.

Is it a solid top.

Not only is it not solid wood, but the rest of the guitar isn't even made of the woods advertised.
The description at the top under the heading, the "Product Information", and the description under "Compare With Similar 
Items" all say..."Back = bass wood" (it clearly is NOT); "Body = rosewood" (NOT); "Neck = rosewood" (NOT). The "Product Description" says..."Back = zebrawood" (WRONG), "Sides = zebrawood" (WRONG, AGAIN!). The Video says..."Back = walnut", and "Sides = walnut".

Do these Chinese sellers even know what it means to tell the truth?!!

Do not buy this guitar. Go get a Fender for $250 and you will be much happier.
