Seems to work ok but it's built to a price point
Had this printer for around a week and I've printed around 50 pages; a mixture of B&W and colour and it's been fine. It's pretty fast, quiet and so far I've had no problems. Was pretty easy to set up and certainly for me running Windows 10, I didn't need the setup disk or to download any software. By the time I'd finished pointing it at my WiFi network, my PC had spotted the printer and seemed to have installed all the necessary drivers on it's own and was ready to go. Now the bad points. It really is built to a minimum price point. I don't think this is going to be even a medium duty printer. The plastic is pretty flimsy and I think a good knock would break it. The most annoying thing for me is the teeny tiny LCD display. The characters are smaller than a digital watch, and the display isn't backlit so you can't read it unless you have a light shining directly on it and to be frank that's pretty poor these days. But, it was easy to fill with the supplied ink, it did come with an additional bottle of black ink, and from what I've seen ink is a fairly reasonable price. Also, you can purchase a maintenance cartridge for it (that catches all the waste ink) which is also quite reasonable if you shop around. I think it was around £8 on the Canon website. Some printers don't have this option and you actually have to bin the printer when the sponge get's full. So I think for fairly light duty it should be fine... time will tell. The scanner seems to work fine and you just need to press one button to make a photocopy; you select B&W or colour. I've tried both and they are pretty good. I've only used standard printer/photocopy paper in it and it will be interesting to see what pictures printed on photo paper will look like. I'm giving it 4 stars because of the terrible display and the cheap feel of it... but right now other than that I've no complaints.Update.I've had the printer now for several weeks and printed around 400 pages; around 80% were black ink only, and it's been fine. But what is amazing is the ink usage. You hear horror stories of ink cartridges only printing a few pages, well this thing seems to use hardly any ink at all. You can clearly see the ink tank levels though the front of the printer and it hardly seems to move. I'm also pleasantly surprised at it's speed. Sure, it's no laser printer, but it's pretty quick. My only anxiety is I'm worried that the aircon will dry out the print head/ink so I've been making sure that I print at least one page a week. Probably overkill but I bet it's a messy job to change/clean the print head. I really wish they had back-lit the LCD display though. With a ceiling light, the LCD is in shadow when you bend over to read it and it's a pain to see. I've had to leave a small torch next to the printer.

Nice concept flawed.
Things to consider before buying, which I didn't of course until I got it:Because it is rear paper feed the unit has to stand at least 3" further out from a wall than a printer that has the paper feeder at the front like my old HP did, I've got mine on a shelf...Printing envelopes looks a bit fiddly, something I do a lot, and you need to be able to stand directly over the printer to see the display and change the settings, we shall see how this goes...It's quite clunky and noisy so I wouldn't really want it in the room I'm working in, perhaps no worse than some others, but shocked me a bit when setting up for the first time.As commented by others: generally the display, user interface and wireless setup is fairly rubbish.Forget trying to configure it on Windows 7 by following the getting started guide, but once you have joined it with your wireless network using a Windows 10 machine, then you can then install as a printer using the supplied CD.If you are lucky enought to still have a CD drive, the downloadable installer exe's don't seem as reliable. To be fair the CD might have worked straight off, but once you have followed the getting started sheet it's too late and you've wasted quite a lot of time.Even after that the printer diagnostics complains that the wifi signal is too weak only 10m away from the router in the adjacent room.It may also be easy to configure the printer the first time using the USB interface but I didn't try that because I don't have a long enough cable and don't intend to use USB.Nowhere in the install guide does it tell you the web interface admin password is the printer serial number, which you will need if you want to use it.To be fair I don't understand the comments that say the ink levels are hard to see, they are good for me and if you want to see them really clearly shine a torch on the tanks at the front.I like the tank concept over the traditional inkjet cartridges.I think the addition of an RJ45 socket to connect directly into a router would make life a lot easier! There are other models that have of course...Anyway it is working OK now after almost a day of messing. The scanner works well and is easy to use.I feel like I've been a bit rough on this printer, but let's face it, no occasional home user wants to spend more than this costs.if it lasts at least 5 years I'll be happy.

Since delivery have had problems with this printer. Returned to Canon for repair twice.
Printer is slow. Quite noisy. No automatic feed. Not easy to stop a print job.Have had so many faults so it has been at Canon for repair more than I have had the printer functioning.Quite large and high so needs a lot of space.Canon technical support has been good.

All Great But for the Scanner
I bought this to replace my previous Canon Pixma printer which had finally given up. This was a bit pricey for what it offers. I operate the printer wirelessly. It prints and copies well. However it won't scan in the office as it says my wifi router is too far away. In my office the download speed is over 100mbps and the print function seems happy with wifi signal. But the sacnner only works if I relocate the printer to my lounge! I contacted Canon who said the the printers wifi adaptor might not be good enough to get the wifi signal. Happily I use the scanner rarely

A real upgrade.
Works so much better than my last printer. Easy to operate. I prefer ink to cartridges. Way less expensive.

Ein nachhaltiges Gerät also.

Finger weg !!!
