Great for holding humidity! My ball python seems happy!
I've found that this stuff is the gold standard for ball python keeping! My rescue came to me with a tank of fresh eco earth, which is coconut fiber. It's not harmful necessarily, but it made me feel bad for him when his dinner came with a mouthful of eco earth. He also rubbed his head in it once & I thought I'd have to intervene to clear his heat pits. Well, reptichip eliminated all those worries! It's very soft but not so soft that it creates dust. I never worry about him getting it stuck in his mouth or heat pits. It holds moisture excellently! I can pour a cup or 2 of water directly on it & his humidity will be set for a few days. The only downside to this is that liquid that comes out during potty time is rapidly & widely absorbed. No biggie, just annoying to have to throw out that much when there's an incident. It hides the smell great, but it's not healthy to leave soiled substrate in their home. I will say that this package (the loose bag, not the block) filled up my 25 gallon zoo med enclosure well & it's held up great since most of his potty incidents happen inside his rock lair hide, so the reptichip stays pretty clean! My pretty boy may have earned his name (Kyle) but he's a pretty good little dude. When it's time to change again, I'll know exactly what to order! Thank you for this superior product!

Beware!
I was so excited to try this substrate for my adult Bearded Dragon. The reviews were great and it seemed safe. I just built a brand new enclosure for my guy and thought he’d love having some different substrate. The second i put him in his new enclosure he started eating the chips. I couldn’t get him out of there fast enough, he ate 3 chips and it was terrifying. I ended up immediately removing it. It’s been two weeks and tons of work and meds to get him to pass the chips. I don’t recommend adding this substrate for Bearded Dragons, it’s a major risk and i’m so thankful my guy survived.

We found a tick on our snake due to bedding
We signed up for a subscription, and had good service, but we found a tick on our snake borrowed into her skin. The only new thing in her tank was her bedding we had just replaced. If worried me because it’s my sons snake and I don’t want ticks transferring to us. I have a couple of packages of the bedding still, but I am nervous to open them. Great service, just hope they figure out a way to kill off the ticks

Rude customer service
I purchased this product as a tester for my multitude of snakes. Everything from Corn snakes to Green Anaconds. And I was not impressed. I've been searching for something that will actually hold humidity better so I didn't have to manualy mist more than I had to and this wasn't it. I do have to say it looked good and was easy to use for coconut substrates. So I decided to message the seller to see if maybe one of their other products holds humidity better. Their response was that my terrariums where wrong and that's why it didn't hold humidity and to message him off of Amazon so he can tell me how to make my terrariums better . I've been herping for a long time and all my terrariums are custom made and not too " airy" as they said. The only one that kept its humidity was in my Green Anacondas Terrarium and that's only because I have a misting system that keeps it humid. At this point I will go back to what I was using and spend the money to get a misting system in 99 percent of my snakes cage.
