The canning jar was meant to hold a pint of vegetables or fruit, and now is made to hold a taper candle or votive jar 9or nothing at all, as you can just enjoy the sound of the glass chimes). I have several of these in various styles and colors hanging from my patio with candles inside, and they have a longer hanger than usual so they can hang in tree branches, as well. The chime is 18" long, 3" wide. The chimes are hand-cut stained glass, alternating pieces of perfectly matched green and clear patterned glass. I drilled holes in the jar and each of the chimes and then put it all together with stainless steel wire and glass beads. The stainless ensures both strength and durability - all of my pieces can go outside (although you should bring it indoors on really windy days). Perfect in trees, a patio, or your vintage-style kitchen. Just as pretty indoors as out, this would make a perfect gift for a collector of vintage bottles or a windchime lover. Perfectly shabby and chic!
