I tried German cleats and English cleats, but they just don't work as well. French cleats are the way to go. These worked great to mount a solid wood headboard to the wall. I'm confident that the headboard won't fall off the wall and kill me in my sleep. low profile, very strong.

I have a great of art work with heavy frames. The French cleats are excellent. In addition you feel safe because you know that the art work will stay on the wall.

Got this to hang a mirror, based on my wall space, but the measurements were not compatible with the information or pictures. It is 17.5 inches long, not 18 in. Also, the holes closer to the corners are 2 inches from it. If you have a narrow space to use it, like I have, it will not fit you. I have a 2 inches stubs with 18 inches apart of each other. If this was the exact 18 inches long AND the holes were closer to the corners, I would had be able to used it. Unfortunately had to returned. It didn't worked for me. Besides that, it looked sturdy. May work for someone else. Just be sure to know the measurements will be good for you.
