BeeCastle 10 Frame Medium Super Bee Hive Box, Langstroth Honey Bee Hive Dipped in 100% Beeswax Include Beehive Frames and Wax Foundations (Unassembled)

The Good: This is a very well made, fairly priced product. I love the color, as well as the protection, that the wax coating gives to the frame box. I added these supers to my "Eco Wood Treated" brood boxes for a contrasting affect. Corner joints are perfectly tight and assembly is simple and straightforward. The kit includes black-finish screws, rather than nails, that go into the pre-drilled holes for the corner joints on the boxes. These help draw everything together and won't work out like nails may. The kit includes small nails that I combined with a dot of wood glue for assembling the frames. The plastic starter sheets for the frames are perfectly sized and wax coated to make them more acceptable to the bees. The Knot-So-Bad: One of my super boxes had a knot in the wood that was right on the finger joint. In retrospect, I should have drilled the hole out a bit bigger or just used wood glue on that joint. At any rate I didn’t, and the corner split a tiny bit. I don't really fault Bee Castle for this. Every pine board will have a knot here and there. This one just happened to be at just the wrong place. The super was really still usable but I contacted Bee Castle about my issue. Without asking me to return the product, they sent me a complete, new, pre-assembled super with frames. Wow. It arrived quite quickly. I am impressed with their desire to keep their customers satisfied and I plan to purchase more of their products in the future.

Very pleased with the quality of these BeeCastle kits. I like supporting US manufacturers and local bee stores, but there's just nothing comparable to these domestically. There is a similar Amazon competitor who has nice supers as well but I like this foundation better. Nicely waxed and smells sweetly of beeswax with a fine edged deep cell pattern. The super is also heavily waxed and made from a combination of solid and linear jointed lumber with no affect to form or function. Very pretty in person. I personally love the grain and knots in the very colorful natural colored lumber. There is evidence of moisture boiling from the board ends so I'm convinced these are hot soaked and not sprayed. True perfect dovetails (not cheap finger joints) that assembled perfectly square- monitor with a framing square as you screw together with the provided TiN finished screws and you'll have identical boxes with no gaps, wobble or overhang. Nice clean deep hand holds too. I didn't use the provided nails for the frames as I glue and secure with an air brad nailer. Not a single split out of 60 frames. Two of the super boards were damaged in transit and the seller responded and replaced immediately. THANK YOU BEE CASTLE. I'll be back for more.

Great product. Very well crafted. Early to put together. I did split one tiny piece but was my fault. The exterior wax was new to me but works well. The bees love it. I did add wax to the frames but I do with all new frames I buy.

Great product and service

The design is very good! Easy to assemble! I dropped one start because the box is absolutely not made of cedarwood ! Cedar wood is super dense and super strong. We had cedar trees cut down and buried in the dirt for 5 years , guess what? Not rotten at all! Cedar trees are fragrant and have beautiful pinkish color. No need to lie about the material, just be honest about it. Quality is already pretty good, I would give a 5 starts if the seller is honest with the material.

The BeeCastle wax-dipped hive box and frame kits are excellent! These do require assembly, but they're built well, easy to put together, and they provide ample hardware. I prefer wax dipped boxes over painted, and while I cannot comment on longevity yet, the wax coating appears reasonably uniform and obviously "waxy," so I suspect these will last as long or longer than painted boxes. I wish all of my hive boxes were wax dipped now!

These are goid quality boxes and work well.

I purchased one medium super and was impressed. The dove-tail joints are all perfect. The waxed box sides are all perfectly flat and straight and have pre-drilled countersunk holes for the supplied screws. The frames are equally high quality and fit together perfectly. The foundation is nicely waxed. I want to buy more, but unfortunately, the price has tripled since I ordered it 3 days ago, and I won't be buying anything more.

Great quality as normal from Beecastle. Build it yourself, but very simple to do.
