Energy Efficient Kettle for GE Electric Stove
Ordered this kettle to replace a Calphalon 2 quart stainless steel model purchased about five years ago. The Vescoware kettle has a flat multi-ply bottom which completely covers an eight-inch diameter coil heating element on a GE stove. Its bottom is made of metal layers with aluminum surrounded by stainless steel to spread the heat and allow faster thermal energy flow into the water. The capacity is 3 liters or 3.2 quarts, but I find it is too heavy and awkward to pour with more than about 2.6 quarts. The key observation I want to share is that the same amount of water heats in half the time. In other words, the old kettle has a solid stainless steel bottom which does not conduct heat nearly as well as the multi-ply bottom in this new kettle. Because the Vescoware has an aluminum disk inside of the stainless steel the heat transfer is more efficient and the water inside reaches boil faster. Using the 8 inch heating element, the kettle will boil water with the stove set on medium-high in less than about 12 minutes. So this kettle, which appears to be solidly constructed, will last a long time and save electricity when compared with an all stainless product. It has a highly polished finished which so far has not been scratched during several weeks of use. I am recommending caution to avoid using abrasive cleaners and scotch brite pads on this type of finish.

Good purchase
I had the same tea kettle for several years but ruined it a couple weeks ago when I accidentally left it heating with no water in it. So I started searching for a new one. Who knew finding a tea kettle required such research??!! (smile) After reading several reviews for tea kettles, I decided on this one for the wonderful reviews about no rusting. The price of this one caused me to pause thought; I did not expect tea kettles to cost so much (At the time, I couldn't find a highly rated, rust-resistant kettle below about ~$40 and this one was even more than that price point.) Ultimately, I thought about how often I use a tea kettle, how long my old cheapo kettle had served me, and how important it was to have a rust-resistant kettle, so I decided to take the plunge! All in all, I have been using it for a week and I am very happy with this kettle. Water boils quicker than any kettle I've ever had and it looks as nice in person as it is in the picture on amazon. Time will tell on rust-resistance, but so far when I clean the kettle, it is just as pristine as when I took it out the box - no complaints.

Love everything but the cost....
Given it's made in China. Update; today the price went down $10 which is great for future buyers but ironic given my previous review which follows: Wish I could rate 4.5 as $59.99 cost is the only negative given tea kettle is not made in the USA (if was than no quibble). I was looking for an alternative to microwaving water several times a day since as much as we think it's safe... I considered electric kettles but even at a higher price, either they had plastic somewhere, or mixed reviews regarding longevity of the electronics. I bought this because it has no plastic parts despite being made in China. I was very pleased with the design, and quality although it felt lighter than I expected given it's all stainless steel. It's easy to clean and the big bonus was that the metal does not retain heat so within minutes of using, I could touch all parts when rinsing. The kettle heats water very fast and the bottom worked well on my non-induction smooth top electric stove (which is not clearly stated on the product page or mfg. web site - nor in the Q&A which just says all stove types). Handle stays cool at all times.

Great Value for a Reasonable Price
I didn't need such a large teapot, but this size looks best sitting on my cook top. It holds 2.5 quarts and will whistle with just 12 ounces of water in it, which is what I usually heat at one time. Great quality and not heavy to lift and tilt. My last pot was top of the line, but wouldn't work on my new induction cook top, so I went in search of a high quality pot, hoping to avoid spending a ton of money like I did on my last. I did a lot of research before buying this as once you have a good pot, you can't go backward. This fits the bill. While it has less heft (which I usually equate with quality), it has everything that is important. High quality stainless for no rust, good ergonomic grip, reliable whistle and easy fitting lid. The bottom is heavy duty sandwiched stainless. The mechanism for lifting the cover off the spout is solid. This is a really got tea pot for the money and I am extremely happy with it. Even though I'm confident this one won't have rust problems, I still avoid leaving water sitting in it.

Never worked quite right
The product itself seems to be made well but the construction of it is shoddy. The handle was loose when I got it due to one of the screws not being tightened all the way. I tightened it myself but it kept coming loose and eventually the nut on the inside of it went missing. So now it's completely useless. Get a teapot with a less complicated handle and spout construction.
