The rubbery underside has a weightiness to it and prevents the mat from shifting out of place. The top is a vivid green and provides a good cushion and sound dampener for my ceramic poker chips as well as a slick surface which allows playing cards to slide over it nicely. Be mindful of the stated measurements so it is only good for a small card table, but that suited my purposes just fine.

Its sized for your folding standard square card table, edge to edge which is more than enough playing space if you want to put it over a dining or kitchen table too. Most card tables have vinyl covers that mute the loud noise of dice or poker chips being tossed on them but the vinyl grips to mahjong tiles when trying to slide or toss them across the surface. Hard top tables are slick but can be scratched and are very noisy when tiles are sliding and bouncing around on them. Perfect solution for both problems. Not bulky or too thick. To prevent creases, roll it up and store it in a cardboard tube mailer you can buy for $5 at office depot.

Those who play mahj know that mixing the tiles can be very noisy. A friend made a purchase of one of these mats, and within minutes of playing, I knew I had to have one. Not only is it quieter, the tiles "glide" across the surface. My card table has been well-used over the years, and this cover gives it a nice, clean look. It's a little smaller than the card tabletop, but we manage just fine. In fact, the rest of the mahj group also ordered these, and we all love it. Easy to store and looks great. Most importantly, it makes playing easier.

The only downside is that if you eat snacks while playing on this mat, it spots pretty easily. Haven't figured out how to clean it without making the spot worse.

Just received, excellent. Mahjong tiles AND cards move so smoothly. A little heavy, but that's OK. I have asthma and it does NOT smell. It does look like it has ripples in it, but that is because it is folded. When opened it works fine. Lines will probably disappear over time, but they do not impede the play. Would buy this again. Wish it came in a different color. If I find in a different color (PURPLE) I would buy again! I have pink sparkle mahjong tiles. I did buy a previous pad and sent it back. It was TERRIBLE. It was a purple rug!! This is SO MUCH BETTER!

Easy to use. Fits on a card table. Cancels noise of tiles being shuffled and played. It's a little pricey but worth it. It really works. Tiles slide easily across the surface for play and especially when pushing the walls out.

Perfect for playing Mah Jongg. Rolls up well.
